my 435 gallon tank in wall see through upgrade

Thanks for the reply. Have you seen much aggression from the anthias within the group or between species? I am considering mixing Bartletts and Dispars, but might stick with just one or the other.

Starting new SPS Reef tank. Am I doing it right?

After doing more research I have decided to forgo the refugium and instead use two reactors and a skimmer. One reactor will be carbon filled and the other will use NP reducing Biopellets. After doing a lot of research on the Zeovit method, it seems that the NP reducing biopellets yield equal...

my 435 gallon tank in wall see through upgrade

Two questions. The big green coral in the middle of the tank, is that Montipora? And it looks like you have some anthias in there. What species and how many? Very inspirational tank!

    Setting up a RO/DI unit

I believe it is 2x as much waste water and good water produced. You can save the waste and water your lawn/plants with it.

Starting new SPS Reef tank. Am I doing it right?

Mag Drive makes a 1200gph and 1800gph, I was going to use one of those until I figured out there were 4 returns. I think now I will maybe use two 700 gph pumps, each split 2 ways. That would be 1400 GPH for a 125 gallon tank which should flow just about right through the sump/fuge, right?

Starting new SPS Reef tank. Am I doing it right?

The tank is drilled with 2 overflows and 4 returns. I am running a sump/refugium with a Mag 1800 return pump. Do I need to split the return piping 4 ways to accomodate those 4 returns? If I do that, will the water flow be strong enough for all 4 returns? Should I instead consider 2 Mag...

Starting new SPS Reef tank. Am I doing it right?

I'm not a PMASI member. Are there any advantages to joining? I live near Peters Township / Canonsburg. As I mentioned earlier, I kept reef tanks for 10 years, but I have been out of the loop for the past 5 years because I moved and had a couple of kids. I always figured when I got back in...

    Setting up a RO/DI unit

I am kind of plumbing illiterate, so I have always had a hard time setting up my RO units. I even watched a video on how to unscrew the faucet on the sink and hook it to that and failed miserably at that. Here is what I'd like to know if it is possible or not. I have a PEX manifold in my...

    Anthias Discussion

I am in the midst of building a 125 gallon reef and plan to keep a mix of anthias, gobies, and chromis together in there. I am interested in hearing peoples experiences with different species of anthias. Which ones to get and which to avoid in terms of the easiest to keep, temperment, easiest...

    The Purple Firefish

From my experiences the Purple firefish seem to be more skittish and shy than the standard colored ones. As noted they are notorious jumpers and tend to be picked on by larger fish. I had a pair of clowns that terrorized my firefish until they all died or jumped ship.
