I've had mine for about 4 years, feed it for two years and then never feed it again. In the past couple of years it's split at least 5 time with another split on the way. The head on the bottom left is showing it's most recent but not complete.

I've never used Oceanic or Tropic so I really don't have an answer for you but I have been using IO for about four years, and never had a problem. All do is add some calcium and i'm good to go Todd
