speaking of rocks. I have a bunch of rock that's been sitting in a bucket for a couple of years. Looks like the best plan there is to soak it in RO/DI for a few days, maybe check phosphates and I should be good. Thinking of seeding it with a piece of live rock from either my LFS or online.

nope. there is a very think silky web coming out of it, I watched it attach to my colt coral and try to literally hoist it in until it eventually broke.

Yes, very similar. Do barnacles spit out webs then hoist them back in?

Please id this hitchhiker. It spews out a silky spider web looking substance, then ropes it in with two claw looking extremeties. Pretty cool actually..

Looks great. I would add a couple more bags of sand if I were you. A deep sand bed goes a long way down the road when it comes to keeping your Nitrates down with beneficial bacteria that grow in it. Welcome to the hobby.
