Saltwater will eat at the little gears in those rotating powerheads after a short time and cause them to stop. Then your just stuck with a expensive powerhead. When in the long run you could just save yourself some money and buy a regular PH like a maxijet or hagen.

Good water movement promotes growth in everything(even algea). So yes anpother powerhead would help in promoting growth in your tank.
Also, it's better to have alot of random and crossing current rather than a one way flow. The oceans current swips and swaps back and forth constantly.
I would suggest at least one bag of good live sand to sed the south down. It will be a good while before the southdown alone becomes live. It will need a good push in the back to really get going. If you decide to go this route I woul lay the southdown first and lay the live sand over the top...
