Well it seems like I madea good decision to change from the eclipse system that I had. Only problem is I am having a hard time keeping the diatoms away even with R/O water.

How do you guys feel about emperor hangon filtration systems.

What causes diatoms, and when will they go away?

I'll run some levels tonight. It is a rust color almost. I can fan it off with my hands though and looks like dust in the water when that happens.

My tank has this rust color on the walls and my DSB that will not go away. The top of the sand bed has almost a hair to it. I can clean the sides of the tank and the rust color is back the next morning. What is this and how can I get rid of it.

I have been having problems with my tank. It looks like rust on the DSB and walls of the tank. I added live rock and it hasn't slowed down. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

One large piece and then 5 smaller pieces. 25 lbs. was how much I ordered. I will send pictures for everybody.

What is DI? So is my only option really to get an ro/di unit

It's a DSB for a substrate. I originally filled the tank with tap water, but have been doing water changes since December with RO water from the supermarket.

What are diatoms? How do I get rid of them?
