    Moving soon.....HELP!!

Not sure yet how everything will come together as far as timing goes. I'm counting onhaving to do everything all at once though. I won't be moving far, so that's a good thing. I guess I'm more concerned about pulling all of the water out, and disturbing the sand bed. Will that create a new...

    Moving soon.....HELP!!

I am moving in about a month, and would really appreciate any advice that you all could give me on how to tear down and set up my tank, and how to transport all my livestock without stressing everything too much. I am halfway counting on losing one or two things in this move, but would like to...

    Help with an ID?

Not the greatest pic, but it looks like somekind of xenia to me. If so, they won't harm thing, but they do grow like weeds, and can take over your tank if left alone. I bought a small colony, and within six months, had to go in and remove almost all of it. It had taken over the entire front of...

    Identify Please?

Looks like Aptasia, or Glass Anemone. Considered a nuissance. Not necessarily harmful, but they will spread quickly. Joe's juice will take care of it.

    crushed coral?

I had a very similar experience when I started in the hobby about a year ago. My LFS set me up with crushed coral, and a light that would support nothing but fish, when they knew I eventually wanted a reef tank. Long story short...I ended up removing all of the crushed coral and putting sand...

    will this live?

Thanks.... very informative. I think what I'll do with this one is to scoop it up, and put it in a separate, small container with a small piece of rubble for it to hopefully attach to. I'm still not sure why this coral would've done this all of a sudden. The only thing I can think of would be my...

    will this live?

I have a hammer coral that has been doing very well for about 4-5 months in my tank. A few weeks ago, I noticed that the entire group of polyps on one of the branches looked like it was coming un-attached. The next day, it was completely separated from the skeleton, and laying on the bottom of...

    Reef Bugs??

That's the stuff "MICHAELTX". So does anyone know anything about it? I bought some, and added it to the tank and everything seems to like it...especially my skimmer...I have learned to turn it off when I add the stuff now! I would like some feedback still from anyone who has used it.

    Reef Bugs??

Has anyone heard of, or used this product? I found it at my lfs, and thought I'd give it a try. You mix a small amount with tank water, and give it about a half hour or so to "hatch". It is supposedly live marine snow, and very good for the tank. Anyone ever heard of this stuff?

    Nitrates??!!

After my last 30% water change didn't change my levels at all, I tested the next batch, and it was clean.....0 trates. Still no change in my levels. I'm kind of at a loss...I'd really like to start buying more corals, but don't want to throw my money away, and that's what I'd be doing until my...

    Nitrates??!!

The tank has been up and running for about a year now. My trates have always been high. It's so frustrating! All other parameters are perfect (PH could use a slight bump). I have used three different types of tests for the trates, and they all tell me the same thing. If I remember, yesterday it...

    Nitrates??!!

I have thought about a refuge, but space is a serious issue right now. I need to know what will bring down my trates now. They read off the chart everytime I test, but my fish don't seem to be stressed at all. I have 1 blue damsel (regretfully), 1 clarky clown, 2 firefish, a serpent star, 3...

    Nitrates??!!

Well the tank is 37 gallon, and i would guess (conservatively), that I have about 75lbs of rock. It ranges in size from about .5 lb to about 20 lbs. I do have a pump going toward the bottom of the tank in the back that keeps everything circulating nicely. Should I maybe stick it right in the...

    Nitrates??!!

Its about 1.5 inches. However, I have a pistol shrimp that likes to re-arrange things...so it's .5 inches in some areas, and up to three in others. I also have a sand sifting cucumber....so between the two, they keep the sand bed pretty well stirred up.
