when you do a top off just use ro water when you do a 10 to 15 percent water change mix up saltwater in a tub and make sure the temp and salinity are the same.
Every time i kill one 10 new ones appear do they spawn when killed or what i use pickling lime kills them instantly but so many come back but when i dont do anything hardly any new ones reappear just the ones there get bigger
