    Making HOB a refugium

Nutrient export is possible depending on tank size of course!

    ID: Stars

These are typical hitchhikers on live rock. I've got several and they have never bothered any other inverts/corals. They seem to be a good addition to reef diversity.

    Is this normal (hammer coral)

There are several corals that drift out stingers. These are aggressive corals. They include but are not limited to frogspawn, torch, galaxae, and hammers.

    Making HOB a refugium

P.S. You can then get a small 13 watt PC clamp on light made by JBJ and mount it right on the side.

    Making HOB a refugium

Absolutely. I've done it. What you want to do is slow down the flow. You can do you with a simple piece of clear plastic (like for the cover of a report). Cut a small piece that will fit between the pump area and where the water flows into the main chamber. Just super glue it in place and...

Hairy algae & super glueing coral to live rock

Hair algae sounds like a phosphate problem. Make certain you use only RO/DI water. NO tap water. Also, do not over feed your tank. This often causes problem algae. As far as the glue goes; I use super glue gel. Yes, you can do this out of water.

    Fish Thoughts?

Remember, 1 inch of fish per 5 gallons of water is the general rule of thumb. If you have a deep sand bed and a lot of live rock, you can push that figure a little. I you go to far over this, you can possibly create too high of a bioload and crash your tank. Lemonpeel's are beautiful, but...

    phytoplankton

I just purchased the coralplankton. Anyone have success with this product? Back to the original post - I really like DT's.

    Packaged rotifers

There is a product on the market (the brand eludes me) similar to DT's phytoplankton that contains rotifers. I'd like to possibly put some of this in my refugium to increase the number of rotifers within my system. Obviously dosing with DT's would benefit the rotifers and hopefully increase...

    Feeding corals.

I wanted to get some varying opinions on feeding corals. What are most of you doing? I know that some of you mix up your own blend, while others use manufactured products. What have you had noticable success with? I'm currently using Kent's and DT's. I plan on sticking with DT's and would...

    Frogspawn And Hammer Questions

Yuo could also try adding Bionic on a daily basis. It is a two part solution to maintain what Bang is talking about for a reef system.

    Fighting Conch ?'s

One or two at the most! I also recommend several nassarius snails and some cerith snails for the sand bed. Cerith snails will move all over the tank, but will frequent the sand also. Nassarius snails are great for the sand!!!

    Carnation corals

I would not recommend this coral. I got a small frag from the lfs for free (thank goodness) and I could not keep it alive in an established tank.
