    Porcupine Puffer Won't Eat

I've had my porcupine puffer for about a year and a half. It is the only fish in a 55 gallon tank. It has always been a pig and eats krill like crazy. He had a case of "cloudy eye" that has cleared up after treating with Melafix. That was over 2 months ago and his eye looks great now...

Why do porcupine puffer "puff up"?

I have a porcupine puffer in a 55 gallon tank by itself. It is a great fish, tons of personality, eats a ton, very healthy. Once in awhile I find him "puffed up" when I come upstairs. It seems to go along with him excreting. Is this a mechanism to help him excrete? Is it a way for them to...

What do you feed your panther grouper?

I have a very small panther grouper (maybe 1-1.5 inches long). It will eat krill, but it only seems to eat every few days. Is this normal? The pieces of krill it eats are very small. I give chopped up silversides, but it won't eat them. Also give chopped up trigger food, which it doesn't...

How long should I keep my phosphate sponge in my filter?

I'm trying to lower phosphates and nitrates in my tank. I have Kent Phosphate Sponge in a bag in my filter. How long should I keep it there? I heard that it should be in there for 8 hours and then replace it. Is this correct? I've already done a large water change. I currently have only a...

Help! How bad are phosphates for your fish? I have red algae problem

By the way, i feed him once a day, only a couple krill or a silverside. Sometimes he doesn't eat the silverside and it lays in the bottom of the tank. I know this is not good, but he will eat it later. Sometimes though, it is broken down in the tank, but it doesn't seem to affect my ammonia...

What should I feed my porcupine puffer?

Does your puffer spit out food and then take it back in? Is this a sign the food pieces are too big? My puffer is fairly small, approximately 3 inches long. I have hermits in the tank, but he only nips at them, but never eats them. I've tried algae sheets, but he didn't seem to want them.

What should I feed my porcupine puffer?

I got a porcupine puffer recently and the LFS recommended frozen krill and frozen food for triggers and wrasses. He loves the krill, but spits out the trigger food. What else can i feed him? I tried some prime reef flake and he will take some of that, but seems to spit everything out...

    Should i remove frozen food?

OK, i thawed out the food and chopped it up into smaller pieces, but the puffer still won't eat it. He will swim to it when i drop in the small pieces and then swim away. Once in awhile he will eat it , then spit it out. When i drop in a piece of krill, he goes nuts and devours it in a matter...

    Should i remove frozen food?

I dropped a cube of frozen food into my tank for my porcupine puffer. He's the only one in there, besides 2 hermits which will become food eventually. The puffer was introduced into my tank yesterday and was swimming around all day. Today, he is laying around all day wedged in a coral...
