    YIPES!!! My salt level!

Salinity in most reef's are naturally around 35 ppt. This closely corresponds to a spacific gravity (which btw, is not the same thing as salinity... but it is much easier and less expensive to measure) of around 1.025-1.026 at the temperatures we normally keep reef tanks at (close to 77 F or 25...

    Hitchhiker Nudi... any ideas?

Seems my nudibranch expert associate from Australia was able to classify this guy down to family Facelinidae. A hyrdiod and anemone eating family of species. Lucky for me, I don't keep any anemones. He must have hitched a ride on one of the coral rocks I bought from a LFS. He was most likely...

    Hitchhiker Nudi... any ideas?

Went to the sea slug forum (google it) and met a Dr. of taxonimy for nudibranchs. We have the family locked down. He is researching it further for me, but from reading, some of the species within the family eat Aptasia. That would explain where it came from since aptasia is pretty hard to rid...

    Hitchhiker Nudi... any ideas?

sure, it was quite small as your description was, but he didnt look like the ones in your link. It did have the characteristic gill frills on its body, but they were like spikes going down the sides of the body rather than bannana bunches. It was dark red head, with a lighter redish pink body...

    Hitchhiker Nudi... any ideas?

Just found this nudi in my 75 gal reef. The tank is only a month and a half so I am assuming it came in on my LR. Any ideas, it appears to be roaming the rocks like a detrivore/herbavore (snail). This picture is under actinics. and this is under normal lighting... Picture quality is...

    my 350

I absolutely love the cabinetry. I used to have a large tank (125 g). Too much electrical cost, additive cost, food cost, etc... Basically, I just didn't want to spend that much on the tank just for upkeep. I can't imagine a larger one. Its still really nice to see them when you can though...

    Lemonpeel Angel

IME, all dwarf angelfish are typically reef safe. I have heard and experienced of them eating feather dusters fairly commonly. I have heard and experienced them nipping at things you wouldn't want them to, like clams and corals. I have heard and experienced them being very docile and benign...

Your both right, but when I set up my tank this is all that was in stock locally. I ordered salt online, but had to wait for it to come in. Meanwhile, I have good salt, but I also have half a bucket of IO I still need to use up. Usually I just mix the IO with the Red Sea Coral, but I figured I...

Is natural ocean water better than making saltwater your self?

I don't think so. Synthetic sea water is pretty well made. You may be a stickler for the minute details though. If thats the case then natural sea water is the way to go for you. Keep in mind, if you use products to treat it you are really just squewing it to be more like bought salt...
