Good evening, I have read a couple of articles recently that talk about replacing power heads with a return manifold with adjustable nozzles. I like the idea of this, has anyone used a system of this nature, or currently using. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Stuart G.o_O

Good Morning, I have a question: I am now about 2.5 years into my salt water tanks. Over that time many hermits and snails have come and gone, but the shells remain. Is there a pro or con to removing or not removing the shells? I would appreciate any and all opinions. Stu:cool:

Thanks for the info Imforbis. One reason I am thinking of going with the Wind Rider DYI kit is because I think, with a little rearranging, I can put it together inside the stand. I don't think I will be able to put a larger one in otherwise.

I do have one now. It came with the tank. I bought both tank and fuge used. It is a 20 gallon tank with baffles put in. The ones I have seen on Amazon are from a company called Wind Rider Creations.

I hope everyone is doing well in here. I have a 150 gallon tank and I am thinking of upgrading my refugium. I may try one of the DIY kits that I have been seeing. My question is; What would be an adequate size fuge to go with?:D

Well, I am talking about my change water. It is in a 30 gallon, covered container. I keep a power head in it all the time. I use Ocean Reef Crystals and check it after I get it to 1.026. My ph at that point is usually showing 8 or a little under.

Generally my ph is below 8.3 after I have mixed it. So I bring it up to that. I use the water for both a reef tank and a FOWLR tank.

I have a RO/DI system for making my water. When I mix I usually mix the salt in until the salinity is 1.026 and then check and adjust the ph to about 8.3. My question is: considering that adjusting ph can effect alkalinity, would it be better to adjust the ph first, then mix the salt and check...
