Looking For Advice - 55 gallon

This shouldn't be a problem if it is allowed to cure completely, right? It seems to be the top choice for foam rock walls and I've not read anywhere that people have had trouble with it. It will also be covered in a mix of crushed coral and sand to prevent UV exposure. 4PM today (about the...

    Does old tank syndrome exist?

I'm not sure I entirely understand this, but wouldn't you just be able to slowly change out the rock for "fresh" rock over time if this becomes a problem, and the same with sand?

Looking For Advice - 55 gallon

Alrighty.. I have bought enough eggcrate, I got Great Stuff Gaps & Cracks, a two-part epoxy, plenty of crushed coral, and some more rock/rubble for the rockwall. I also have 5lbs of Manado live rock and 10lbs of rubble from Premium Aquatics, mostly for extra rock to work with and partially...

    Colt or Kenya Coral

Going by the polyps I'd put my money on colt too. They're too bunched up and close together to be a kenya, IMO.

New skimmer. Bubbles not reaching cup. What am I doing wrong?

You can probably find quite a few good answers to this by googling, it's a common question. A big part of it is breaking in. Depending on the aquarium and your filtration this may take days or weeks. If it's already been a while and there's no difference, try messing with the intake power and...

Looking For Advice - 55 gallon

Sorry it's been so long, real life has (for the first time in years) gotten busy. It doesn't feel like it's been months since I posted this O.O I've gotten a part-time job recently, and have a few online projects that might be bringing in some extra flow in the next couple months as well, so I...

Looking For Advice - 55 gallon

I have a 55 gallon tank. It is a few years old if not more, full of copepods, bristle worms, all that good stuff. I've had mollies in there to keep it going, but no actual saltwater fish or inverts for a while. I am now ready to get it going again, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or...

    Pufferfish Choking

Readings were fine besides nitrates being a little high. He was fine until when i saw him earlier. Nothing changed, he ate normally, swam normally, everything. I turned the lights on and he was at the bottom. I figured he was just resting, like he usually does when the lights go off. I fed the...

    Pufferfish Choking

My toby pufferfish seems to be choking. He's getting less active by the second, and it looks like he has something white in his mouth (or maybe it's his beak, i never really looked very close before) and he is breathing hard. What should i do? I can't tell for sure if he has something stuck in...

Why does it have to be so hard?

I know what you mean. Rocks start falling, plants start floating up, powerheads fall and shoot debris everywhere...i lost more cool plants and small corals to that then would have been worth it if i had made it look good. But Ohpiura said it perfect, it all doesn't matter once things start...
