    Brown Algae

If that's the case, should I just keep the lighting periods on same schedule? Once this diatom get's resolved, does it sound like my algae growth would be normal with that type of lighting & nitrates? Thanks.

    Brown Algae

I have a 72 FOWLR tank. The tank has been up about 2 months. I used cured live rock to cycle it so it was fully cycled in about 2-3 days. Fish are real healthy. Anyway, I was using a single strip fluorescent to light my tank & Only had it on 4-5 hours in the evening when I was home. The...

    Too much flow?

I just added a small clown & he seems to be struggling to swim in my 72 tank. The problem is my Koralia powerhead which pushes 1200 GPH. I know having current is important in a reef tank but how bout a FOWLER. Also, if I need current what should I do? It turned off the pump & the clown...

    Bio wheel conversion

I'm taking a Emperor 400 from a freshwater tank to add to my established saltwater tank. Since the freshwater bacteria will not survive in the salt, do I need to do anything before I move over the filter (i.e. clean the bio-wheels, sanitize them, etc.)

How do Crustaceans affect the bio-load?

I know the rule of thumb is 1" of fish for every 5 gallons. How do crustaceans factor in? I have a FOWLER tank & I want to introduce some crabs & a small lobster (possibly) to pull clean-up duty & do some scavenger work. Lmk your thoughts.

    Is my tank cycled?

Yea, I'm preparing my daughter for the fact that they may have to "move to a new home." It wasn't a problem with my first tank years ago which was very agressive. I introduced a lion &...no more damsels, lol. Apprantly they make good snacks.

    Is my tank cycled?

Will do...thanks. I'm planning on buying a Aqua C Remora hang-on skimmer to go along with my Emperor bio wheel. Heard nothing but good things about 'em & I'm not getting into sumps, etc if I can avoid it.

    Is my tank cycled?

Not sure yet. My daughter named them & so far they have been behaving themselves. I'm going to wait & see what happens with new tankmates. If they act up they are going bye bye.

    Is my tank cycled?

I'm pretty certain I'm good...just want some confirmation. I don't 2 introduce Nemo & have it turn into a floater with a crying daughter. Not sure about the damsels...pretty standard, yellow tail, zebra, etc.

    Is my tank cycled?

I think about a day or 2 after introducing the rock I had very little ammonia but it was back to 0 the next day.

    Is my tank cycled?

I set up a new salt tank about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I know it's frowned upon by most hobbyists but I decided to cycle the tank old school with 4 damsels because my daughter (who's 4 & the reason I got back into saltwater tanks) would have nagged me to death if I had an empty tank sit for 4-6 weeks...
