i just got a complete hqi setup with the double ended bulbs and they really dont get that hot. its on a 75 with dual 175's and i get maybe a 1 degree warmup while they are on and i leave them on for 8 hrs a day. hope this helps

red slime is primarily feeds on phosphates... so if ya take out the phosphates it dies off... so try some phos-x and that should kill that off in time
