I have a 20in aqueon modular led light fixture with the three bulbs. Each bulb has 9 leds and each led/chip is .22 watts at 20 lumens. So I have a total of 6watts with 540 lumens. I also installed 4-4in blue led flex strips on the inside. Not sure how many lumens those are. I'm wantin to start...
ITagging along.....What are you keeping in the tank as well.......

It would be used for fish only tank. The tank I have is 20x18x24. I would be putting 40degree lenses on each led. So I would take the surface area divided by 20 which would give me 18 LEDs needed?
I'm looking at buying a driver and a few LEDs. Was looking at 8 cool whites and 2 royal blues from rapidled.com. I was wondering if this would be enough LEDs for a 37 gallon column tank. I believe the tank is 20x18x24(lxwxh). Was just wanting to know if the Cree LEDs will be enough light to add...
They look nice, but they also look like painted plastic. I don't recall seeing anyone posting any pics of there's so where did the " mine look SO much better" come?
Also, how many fish, how often do you feed them and how much. This will all play a role in algae production. If its not the sunlight, the fish light being on to long... I would recommend a good protein skimmer.
Do you have a cleaning crew... Is your tank in direct sunlight for more then 5 hours a day. What kind of light do you have and how long is it on every day? There's a lot that can cause algae outbreaks but these are the most common. Also, what kind of algae is it.
Hey guys. I have a 37 gallon column tank with a giant cat paw coral in the center of it. Would I be able to get a mimic tang in the tank. If not is there any tangs that I can have in this small of a tank?
Like I said, I'm going to buy magnet this weekend and I will go to a fish store that my friends parent own and test the grab strength of the mags thru different thickness glass. I can measure this buy pulling down on the mag with a fish scale. Another thing to think about is if you have two mags...
I'm a crane operator and I mess with giant magnets all day. The ones we have pick up plate steal. The way we measure how much one can hold is for inch of metal the power of the mag is cut down about 10%. I know we're talking about regular mags but I think we could use this as a guess. It also...
Fake live rock is a little tricky to make, but I agree it would work just as good...the OP wanted to shave off an end to be smooth and attach a magnet. LOL...When I had coral I would have given my eye teeth for such a thing....I did see a plastic version held with suction cups...and I looked at...
I was doing some thinking and I'm wanting to take some pieces of my live rock, grind a flat spot on the back and insert magnet so I can place them throughout the tank on the glass. What my question is... Are magnets corrosive in saltwater. If so, could I coat the magnets in an apoxy and will...
Yeah. It's just a plain tank.. I was looking at this ammonia remover floss. Will that be good? I do plan on upgrading later on. Just want to see if I can do this whole saltwater tank thing before really dropping money.
Hello, I recently started a SW tank and I wasn't planning on putting any live rock in it. I started it with 20lbs of dry sand and 10lbs of live store bought sand. Along with the sand I bought this really big piece of dead coral that I have in the center of the tank. Well my question is, will...
