    Tank Parameters - Please help

Did I post this in the wrong forum? Guess there's really not any diseased fish or any sickness in my tank. Just thought this was the best suited forum for the post. Mods - go ahead and move this if necessary.

    Sick Perc. Clown

Have a mated pair of True Percs.. Have had them for at least 6 months now without any problems. Yesterday the male (smaller of the two) was discolored and did not look right, looking pale. He was still swimming around, but seemed timid, which isn't like him at all. I fed and all the fish ate...

    Converting to sump system..

I currently have a 55gal AGA tank with HOT AquaC remora skimmer, which just isn't skimming as much as I'd like. Am trying to plan out a sump system, but due to the stand I have, I am limited to the following space inside the stand. 11 ¾” deep, 46” wide, and 20 ½” high. The original plan was to...

    Coraline Algae.. ?!

Are there any clean-up crews I could put in the tank to rid the DSB of coraline algae and diatoms? I have turbo snails and blue leg hermit crabs in there now. At first, the hermit crabs did great on the DSB, but now they all just hang around on the rock and never even venture onto the DSB.

    Coraline Algae.. ?!

I have some nice coraline algae growing on my live rock since I originally established my tank early this year. Now, there are spots of it on the back pane of glass in the tank, and it is also growing on the DSB. I usually use a turkey baster to clean the diatoms and coraline off of the DSB...

    Uninvited crab in live rock

Does anyone have any tricks on how to catch one of these guys? Lost a damsel yesterday and know I have one of these hairy crabs in the tank. All water params are norm: Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 20ppm All other fish are healthy. Damsel that I lost used to sleep in a hole in the live rock...

    Turbo Snails - Death?!

Tank has been up about 4 months. Had heavy diatoms on parts of the glass and is why I originally got the snails. They did a good job cleaning up. There is still some in the tank, but definitely not an abundance. My tank is a 55 gal. I would think 11 would be OK. Maybe not.. Any ideas on an...

    Turbo Snails - Death?!

What will cause a Turbo Snail to die? I've had 3 or 4 die off in the last few weeks out of about 11 of them. Is it because there is not enough food for them to eat anymore? What should I feed them and how can I feed them if I wanted them to stay alive? And what else could I get to clean diatoms...

    4 clicking then 2 then 1 ???

I with ya there. I'm not a "Silly Girl" but I sure as hell like my fingers exactly the way they are. I'd definitely use something besides my hands to remove the rock if I had one. :)

    4 clicking then 2 then 1 ???

I'd be afraid to even touch the rock its in fearing it would come out and take my finger off, lol.. Has this happened to anyone?

    what happened?

What brand test kits are you using? I would recommend Salifert (used by many on this board) or Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (what I use and have had good luck with). I previously had Jungle test kits which were a joke and gave readings that were way off.

The "DO NOT..." Advice List for Saltwater Aquarists

Very neat idea.. Never would've thought of that myself. The net really damages the fish that bad, eh? Does it just remove their slime coat?

    Fish Compatibility

Hopefully my damsels will stay sedated. If not I dont know how I'll catch them. Have never seen a way used that was successful, and the LAST thing I want to do is empty out my whole tank to be able to get them. Who knows. If I put more fish in and they get nasty and stay nasty I'll tackle it...

Also make sure there are no pins bent or loose or broken on your video cable. A loose connection or some broken pins could be causing some wierdness on the screen if the cable is stressed or pulled a certain way. Shawn

    Fish Compatibility

My damsels are actually pretty sedated. When I first added the clown fish (before I knew any better, I added them with the light on) the yellow-tailed damsel was a little vicious, not nipping, but sort of thrusting at the two clowns. After about 2 days this stopped completely and they have been...
