Does live rock help with hair algae & cynobacteria?

I've had a never ending battle with hair algae and cyanobacteria. It isn't near as bad as it used to be and it's pretty controllable now but I've heard that live rock will help with these problems. Has anyone had the cyanobacteria or hair algae and than added live rock and if so what kind of...

    have question burlin turbo hanging

The water only comes out of the 2nd hole(not the black hose) if the return tubes are blocked! If you have problems you should call RedSea(they make the skimmer)! The black hose is how the pump create the bubbles, it has to be out of the water sucking in fresh air.

    Some pictures of my tank

the tank is about a year and a half old and yes i have had about 4 fish die since the start. There are no small fish in the tank because of the lunare wrasse. The lunare wrasse is a very aggressive fish towards smaller fish. The hippo tang has gotten ick before (twice) but he's still doing good.

    cleaner Shrimp or wrasse?

If you mean cleaner wrasse for shrimp or wrasse than get the cleaner shrimp. A cleaner wrasse doesn't live for that long. Cleaner shrimp are real easy to keep as long as you don't have fish that will eat them-like wrasses. I've had both and the shrimp is the way to go.

    Cyanobacteria-Help me please!

My lights are corallife 50/50 and corallife 10,000k. I can't get a clean up crew because I have a lunare wrasse that eats anything smaller than him! I have an oceanic protein skimmer that is definitely big enough for my tank. The water flow is good in the tank. I use r/o water so how much...

    Cyanobacteria-Help me please!

I've never checked the silicates-whats that?! I had the cyanobacteria before I changed the lights and it didn't get any worse with the new lights. The tank gets about an hour of natural sunlight(but only about a half foot of it at a time). [ May 14, 2001: Message edited by: kb ]
