thanks for the advice folks,the more ive read and researched i think ill just get a good ro/di filter,seems the easiest way to make sure ive got good water when i need it.

i would go out 5 or 10 miles and get the water,i guess buying the sand would be the best idea though.

if i fill my tank w/sea water straight from the gulf of mexico will it still have to cycle?my sand will be from the beach as well...just past the surf.

i was talkin about the ones with the filtration built in the back,but i have been looking at some reef ready also

ive been looking at aquarium setups and trying to decide which tank to get,i like the setups with the filtration units built in,just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages were between the all in one units and the seperate systems.i thinking of getting around a 55-60 gallon tank w/live...

i live near the coast and was wondering if i could use sand and water from the gulf to start a tank?it would be live sand wouldnt it?say fill a few 5 gallon buckets w/ wet sand from the surf?
