Random Assortment of Observations and Questions

Snails are easy if water quality is good and they have enough food. In New tank, both can be an issue. peppermint shrimp don’t really come out. Skunk cleaner shrimp are good if you want to see them. Avoid coral banded shrimp they can eat fish when they get bigger. id switch to some high...

If it is big enough you should be fine. They are pretty and their price has come down a lot.

    McCoskers flasher wrasse

It has grown a ton. It is probably twice the size it was when I got him less than a year ago as a blemish fish from DD.

    McCoskers flasher wrasse

That was my thought. It is bigger than any mcCoskers I’ve ever seen close to 3.5 in, longer than my adult flame angel.

    Starting New 55g

that is a lot of messy fish for a small tank. The frog fish would do better in a tank by himself. Other than that keep in mind the lion can eat anything that will fit in its mouth and lions have big mouths.

    McCoskers flasher wrasse

I year or so ago I purchased this McCoskers flasher wrasse frame DD. It never looked a lot like a McCoskers but there are some similarities. The last month or so it has developed a dark blue/purple coloration on its head stretching to the dorsal fin. Here are a couple pics, any ideas? Is...

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

The equipment should be fine. I don’t know anything about that skimmer. Look at the reef octopus hang on the back skimmer. I don't know if it is better but I know it is a good one. Compare reviews and specs. Go ahead and run the filter. I assume you are going to transfer your rocks from...

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

It depends on the fish and their habits. I saw pics of an amazing 40B reef with dwarf lion fish. Problem is you can’t have anything else because they will be eaten. you could do a dwarf angel like a flame. You still can’t do fish that need a lot of space to swim. A 40B is only 3’ long...

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

No tangs in a 40 gal. You are still limited to small fish but you can have more.

Stocklist for a 30 Gallon Reef tank

That is a good list. The 1” per 5 gal rule does not apply to SW

Small worms growing on my live rock

mine too. Tanks been up and running for years and they’ve never caused a problem. Sometimes you will see what looks like spiderwebs. That is from them. They are trying to catch food with them.

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

Very nice. Be sure to put another layer of 2x4 under the rim of your stand to carry the weight of the tank. Otherwise only a few screws are holding it up. I have built several stands like that, including my current one and they are great. Here is a pic of mine at that stage you can see that...
