    Heater(s)

2 smaller ones and some sort of controller. I have a 120 gal, live in Minnesota where it is really cold and I use 2 100 watt heaters. This is more than enough to heat my tank. They aren’t on all the time either.

    Power outages

There should be plenty of empty space in the sump to handle all the water that drains down if power is lost. For that reason you don’t want your over flow near the bottom of the tank. Mine is about 60% full when I turn off the return pump the sump can handle the extra water volume.

    All inclusive Nano Reef Setup

Red Sea has a couple nano systems. The reefer system will handle coral. https://www.redseafish.com/aquarium-systems/reefer/

    Mystical scooter blenny.

Since dragonet are hard to QT I don’t like to order them from anyplace but DD. I think I’m jest going to keep watch for a pair of mandys on DD. I’m in no rush. I leave in 3 weeks for the Philippines so I probably shouldn’t get anything until I get back In early April.

    Simple, inexpensive sump/ refugium

Cheap sump, for my 120 I have a 40 gallon breeder that I use. I made baffles out of 1/4” plexiglass and glued them with aquarium safe silicone. Took very little time to make, maybe an hour. You need to let the silicone cure for a few days. I already had the tank so it was just the cost of...

Back to the hobby after 10 years!

Bobs method is not the way to go. 1) adding macro algae in the beginning will slow the cycling process way down. This leaves the system un balanced, not enough bacteria to handle waste. 2) you don’t want macros in control they inhibit bacterial colonization preventing the balance between...

    Mystical scooter blenny.

I bought a ruby red scooter a few weeks ago. I’ve never seen him eat frozen. I don't really watch that closely. I’d like to get a female, mine is male but I never see just females on DD. just males or pairs. I regret not getting a pair. Do top know if two males can live -peacefully...

    55 gallon tank

You should be able to do softies and LPS

    Starting again

the macro algae should be added after the cycle is complete. Macro algae will remove the ammonia before the bacteria can break it down. I know that sounds like a good thing but it isn’t. Scientifically speaking the macro won’t give you a balanced system until your bacterial cultures are...

    Thoughts on Fish List

They tend to pick on other fish and they are prone to a disease called uronema marinum. Uronema is a parasite you can’t get out of the tank once it is in The tank.

    Refugium and skimmer

Depending if it is live or dry. You need less if it is dry rock Because it weighs less.

    Refugium and skimmer

The algae will keep your nitrates and phosphates down but your rock will also be a major part of your filtration. I’d say 10-20% of your tank volume. I use a grow light I got on amazon. The light emitted is pink. It is a fairly large light which I have on at night and off during the day...

    Thoughts on Fish List

That would work very well. Glad to see you are quarantining and going slow. That is the best path to success with salt water. In a 36 you could add a couple more fish like a shrimp gobie or a second oscelaris clown. (You’d want to quarantine the two clowns together if you opt for a pair)

    Refugium and skimmer

In my opinion you don’t need a filter or skimmer if you have a refugium For fish only.

    Starting again

It depends in if it is live or dry. If dry there are ask kinds that have different densitie. I like Pukani from BRS. It is light su even though the per pound price is higher it costs less than others. It also has lots of hidey holes for fish.
