Ive always given the advice to not remove it, but I think I might chance it.
I admit, I have not tested or dosed my tank for the last two weeks.
Calcium was at 340, alkalinity was at 5dKH. Low, low, low.
I dosed and got it back up where it needs to be. I guess I am a lazy reefer. I need lazy reefer tools.
Make sure that if they are a European or German brand, that they can be used on our electric grid or have a power adapter included. If not, they sell them for around $20-30 in the luggage isle at most big box stores.

No, I don't advise to change the live sand. The sugar has bacteria in it which will eat it, over time. What you can do, however, is to do water changes and increase protein skimming and it will eventually go back to normal.
Sounds like you overdosed.
I'd also suggest having enough extra saltwater on hand for a water change up front when you are making those kinds of changes.
