I think I am actually seeing some new little buds of star polyps on the ends. I'm still planning to cut it up and super glue the pieces to the bottom of the tank so it will all grow in together.

These zoa's seem to be doing well. Looks like I have a lot of green in the tank but I don't. I have some peach zoa's (I call everything by their color, not whatever designer names they give them.)

I love these green mushrooms. I forgot what the guy called them. Rhodactus? Anyways... Pretty green mushrooms. Lol.

    Feather duster

I think a feather duster would make a great addition to my tank. Thanks for the suggestion.

    5g reef

Oh, and also, I figured out the most useful tool in a pico reef.... A toothbrush. Have a merry Christmas ladies and gentlemen! I know there will be plenty of more users after the holidays setting up new tanks. Everyone is going to be busy answering questions!

Alright, so is the key to growing coralline in a tank still widely accepted that you need low nutrient levels, good blue lighting, and stable, high calcium and alkalinity numbers? I think I just figured out what to buy with my Amazon gift card! A test kit.

I know this is just a brown Kenya tree and nothing special, but I wanted to show off my new phones photography capability. Hopefully I can find a little piece of green nepthea for a good price.

I think the only thing that died off, and not by much, because of the apoxie sculpt was the orange montipora. I'm thinking about possibly buying three or four types of montipora cap and gluing it to the plastic on the side of the tank and letting it cap outwards.

    5g reef

So, I am just about ready to buy my ticket for MACNA 2017. I'm excited about going this year. And now that I have a tank that is getting mature, I'll have to splurge on some cool corals to fill it up the rest of the way. I learned my lesson about using Apoxie sculpt instead of the other...

    5g reef

Having a little bit of an algae problem right now. My lights might be on too long during the day. I'll have to change up my lighting settings. I'm sure that if I am growing algae, then the corals themselves are getting plenty of light. I might need to add a couple more small snails. I'm also...

Everything has bounced back! I'm excited. I'm going to focus on filling the rest of the tank with different types of zoa's and try my hand at a couple of different types of monti caps. It's going great.

The montipora I have in my tank looks like the edges have died back some. I'll do another water change in the morning. Everything else is looking OK. A couple of the mushrooms are having difficulty bouncing back but everything else seems fine.

    5g reef

It's all in recovery now. The corals that I bought today, Mainly zoa's, are already open and doing fine. The mushrooms still look like they puked up their guts, but they look better than yesterday. I did a two gallon water change today on a 4g tank. I'll do another gallon water change in the...

    5g reef

Before I left home this morning I checked the tank. All the corals still seem mad at me. I did a 1g water change with saltwater I already had on hand. Hopefully that will help. I'm nervous to go home and see it. I'm going by the store this afternoon to get two more gallons of saltwater, make...

    5g reef

The corals in the tank look ticked off at me. I might stop by the fish store on the way home tomorrow to get a gallon of saltwater. I might need to look into changing out the filter media as well in the next couple of days. It's always a hard bounce back when you change things up so much. I'm...
