    Pest Help

Hi, Try dipping just the base in some super salty water, the critter will be shocked and come out..be quick and lift your pest free coral out before whatever it is can crawl back in... It could be a good critter, like you may be seeing the arms of a serpent seastar. If it is a good critter you...

Returning to a Reef tank after 2 years of nothing...

Corals are why I got into the hobby...LOL...the fish were just decoration that moved....well until I discovered keeping seahorses some years later, they trumped any ocean critter I ever had.

Returning to a Reef tank after 2 years of nothing...

Hi, I just wanted to welcome you, and tell you I understand about the pain of tank crash. I will leave the identity to others... corals don't like change, so stable water conditions is the goal. As long as you use a quarantine for fish, make sure everything can get along with one another, and...

    Please help!

Yes it will restart your tank, with lots of die off with your fish in it, which, like Jay expressed is much worse than the ich parasites...it isn't worth it to do hypo in your display...JMO

    Please help!

Yep...it will cure Ich. It will also kill every tiny critter in the sand and rock. Which will throw the entire tank into unbalanced conditions. You can't do hypo in the display. What size is your display? How large are the fish you are trying to save? I had a 90g that got ich. The fish were too...

    algee in tank...

Hi, You have high phosphates, or you couldn't have hair algae. A test won't help because you will get a false negative reading, because the algae is feeding on it. Nothing except seahares eat hair algae, and even then it's iffy. A GRO reactor...or...phosphate remover...or ... Lots of regular...

Salt water store near providence rhode island

Hi, Welcome to the site. I'm not familiar with the area, but on-line fish stores allow you a much larger selection than most LFS (local fish store). This site for example is awesome, and the 14 day guarantee means that whatever you buy, your covered. At the LFS, the moment you walk out of the...

Algae can't exist without Phosphates, so a GFO reactor will do more than a UV sterilizer

    My second attempt

LOL...I never noticed the impatient part at the very start. You can use this waiting time to set up a quarantine tank, do some reading up, and window shop equipment to see what you might do in the future. Build your fish wish list, and research them.

    My second attempt

Hi, There is just no hurry up method. Even if you dose bacteria, it will still take time for it to build colonies enough to be cycled, you have that already with your live rock, and an ammonia spike. PATIENCE is the key to success

    Corals dying slowly, help

You can order it on-line, but most every SW fish store carries it. Just remember, what feeds corals also feeds algae, so be sparing.

What is next??? Just waiting until ammonia drops to 0, then nitrites drop to 0...then nitrates.

    Corals dying slowly, help

Hi, For a reef, the water top needs to look like it's boiling. Frog spawn are filter feeders, you need to feed them something like Kent's invert food, I don't think they eat what you feed your fish or brine shrimp.

    Replacement Tankmate Sugestions

Hi, Adding more than 1 fish at a time is just asking for trouble...ONLY ONE at a time should be added to the tank. 36g is a very small for a SW tank. I strongly suggest you busy yourself with setting up, and cycling a quarantine tank, and THEN consider what fish to add next. You have already...
