    The Struggle is Real

I scratch my head on the clowns, they are supper hardy, in the damsel family. The Foxface would be stressed in a small tank, and like I said, Anthias are difficult fish to keep. Just doing your water changes, and getting the PO4 under control should take care of the hair algae issues... if you...

    The Struggle is Real

Hi, You wouldn't have hair algae or cyano (AKA: Red slime) if your phosphates weren't high. There is more than PH and ammonia to concern yourself with. The old lighting will also contribute to the bad stuff growing out of control. So the illusion of perfect parameters is a bust. A 36g tank is...

    Suffocate Xenia?

Hi, Tipping the rock on it's side to make it climb upwards will guide it to another rock, then remove that rock and sell the Xenia. There isn't much you can do except isolate the Xenia so it can't keep spreading. As often the case, some corals just flourish under certain conditions. Your tank is...

    Help

Hi Bang... Just asking here. If it was a very new tank and un-cycled, would 6 hours even be enough time to cause that kind of stress?

Help dwarf seahorse stuck at birth

Hi, Awesome, I know you said you had friends to help you, I always offer my help anyway. Haurki is the brand I used, it seemed "cleaner" than the other brands. However my store sometimes were out of it, so I started purchasing another brand, all the horses but one pot was eating. I assumed...

    Help

A few questions: How did you acclimate it? ...Too fast to be released, and the fish can't adapt to the change of temps or SG. Did the store chase it around before finally catching it? ...Sometimes a fish is injured or over stressed when captured. What other fish are in the tank with it? ...New...

Help dwarf seahorse stuck at birth

Hi, I'm not the person that originally posted. I have kept Erectus, Kuda and Potbelly seahorses for years, but never bred them. The original poster lost the horse, and we haven't heard anything since. I can help you on how to set up your tank. I have a concern with your saying you want to mix...

Help dwarf seahorse stuck at birth

Dwarf seahorses can never eat frozen Mysis, they ONLY eat newly hatched baby brine shrimp. I don't know what type of seahorse your ppl have, because if they are eating frozen mysis, it isn't dwarfs. Second, you don't make your own food for seahorses, just frozen Mysis. I even lost a potbelly...

Never ever add any supplement to your tank until you have tested to know if you even need to use it.

    Water testing equipment

Ammonia test strips are okay to use because any reading at all means do a water change, exact numbers are not needed. Digital tests are super easy to use, I have a PH one... but they are very expensive. Master kits are cheaper than purchasing kits individually. People seem to like Salifert...

Help dwarf seahorse stuck at birth

Um..It isn't the babies, the adults have to have newly hatched brine shrimp or they starve. As far as seahorse babies, the dwarf horses are the easiest because they stay in the tank with the adults.

Help dwarf seahorse stuck at birth

Hi, I doubt this person is still around... If you like seahorses, you can get Erectus or Kuda horses, captive bred...they eat frozen Mysis shrimp, and are as easy to care for as any SW fish. Those little zots are a pain, you can only feed them newly hatched baby brine shrimp.

    aptasia problem...mojano wand or laser?

Hi, Joes juice or Apatasia X to get all that you can reach...then get peppermint shrimp to eat any that crop up later. What is important is to not touch or bother them, it causes them to think they are under attack, then they release spores and it really spreads like fire. The laser thing...

Converting my 120 fresh into salt

Yes, I agree, I always had a few favorite fish, and never overstocked my tank. My father liked to have the tank filled with fish... he always had problems with polluting the water. Keeping just a few fish swimming about the rocks (I always liked to make a cave too) always looked better to me.

Converting my 120 fresh into salt

LOL... I do drain the tank about 1/2 way, but I still have to remove the rock. Your method is great if you plan to upgrade to a larger tank and want to remove all of the fish, but to get to one fish to rehome it....That is so hard and disruptive. It's best to get the fish that can live in your...
