    New saltwater aquarium

Do you mean cycle? In my opinion you should not cycle a new system with fish. Some live rock is really all you need.

    Lighting and algae (LED)

The algae can use the blue light, just not as well as yellow light. The advantage of blackout is the algae will die back rapidly. The down side is all the nutrients the algae sequestered and all the nutrients it normally consumed will be in the water now instead of in the algae.

    Lighting and algae (LED)

Generally speaking, algae is a nutrient issue, not a light issue.

slimy film on top of water

that makes it difficult. If you turn off all water circulation you can lay paper towels on top of the water and they will soak it up.

Help ID slug please good or bad!?

This Nudibranch probably came in on a coral you acquired. Odds are good that it feeds on that coral, and only on that coral. From the coloration and gill pattern I'd guess it feeds on some type of soft coral.

2 different questions... Oily Water surface and blue tang diet

An oily surface could mean that your protein skimmer isn't operating at its best efficiency.

    Tang in a 55??

Although Tomini are generally smaller than the Kole, they are open water swimmers and need some space to "open up". The Kole are the most territorial Tang so do not have the need for as much open water. My opinion of course.

    BTA in trouble plz help

On your temperature - One weakness for reef animals is that they do not tolerate change very well. I would suggest you set your heaters to 78.6 or above so the temperature doesn't drop so much at night and is more stable. Just FYI, 1.022 is not the salinity, it's the specific gravity. I only...

    Minimum Recommended Tank Size

People, the minimum tank size is not a magic threshold where all of your size problems disappear. It's the Minimum. That means you are going from insufficient water volume to the tank WITH THE LEAST CHANCE OF SUCCESS. Of all the scenarios don't pick the one that has the least likely chance of...

    BTA in trouble plz help

If you're not going to try again for a while you probably don't need more help. However, Salinity, Temperature, Alkalinity, and Calcium are all very important. Have you been testing these parameters? They are important for all of your saltwater animals, not just the Anemone.

    Tang in a 55??

A Kole Tang is appropriate. Not the hardiest Tang though. The Niger is definately not appropriate for a 55 in my opinion. Two Clownfish of the same species are an excellent choice. Just don't get two females.

I would suggest browsing pictures and see what appeals to you and then ask the owners of the tanks you like lots of questions.

Snails, clams, oysters, Limpets. Sessile and slow moving animals mostly. There's probably at least a dozen different species all being sold as "Bumblebee" so it's impossible to say what species oyu have. Well, impossible for me anyway.

I think that's a terrible idea. Why would you not wait until your new system is running and stable, like May or June.

new to hobby advise always wanted

I agree with Imforbis regarding the Maroon Clownfish. It needs to be relocated. Maroons typically claim an area of about 9 square feet and their territory and will fight to the death to protect it. The Percula (possibly an Ocellaris?) will clain an area of about one square foot. Much more...

I know I might get some hate for this but one of my friends gave me his Niger trigger

A Niger normally wouldn't bother anything larger than an Amphipod. Being in a smaller than ideal tank will sometimes affect their personality though.
