    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

Even though the may look like plants these are animals not plants. Be careful getting too many and putting them too close to other species. They are aggressive. They use chemical warfare to kill nearby corals. Some are worse than others. In the first pic the small yellow is one is an...

    Topping off tank

They definitely have private companies servicing them. To those people the tanks are decoration, they don‘t see them as alive To us they are tiny pieces of the reef and we care about the well being of the inhabitants.

    Topping off tank

In a 55 a lemon peel would be fine. Just keep keep in mind that you can only halve one angel so I’d do some research to make sure that is the one you want. I’d also wait a couple months for your tank to adjust to the fish you have. don’t pay too much attention to how they do things on...

    Live rock question

Absolutely nothing. They are live because of the bacteria on them. Fish waste will feed it. Live rock is an important part of your filtration system.

    Topping off tank

You should be using either reverse osmosis deionized (RODI) water or distilled water for top offs. There is no need to add anything to them. Never use tap water.

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

I would guess you’d have a hard time finding one that isn’t specifically made for your tank. look up bubble traps. You can sometimes find aftermarket ones that will fit.

Questions on refugium(new to salt water!!!)

Silica sand is fine in fresh water. The argonite (calcium carbonate).helps with the buffering of the water (keeps pH constant) helps keep calcium and carbonate levels constant, etc. silica sand will cause you all kinds of issues starting with diatoms that never go away. they will cover...

Changing canister filter from fresh to saltwater

It isn’t the flow rate as much as if it can push the water that high. you will probably just need to experiment. You need to look at the flow rat at the height you need to pump it. You need to look at head height. I have a 1500 GPh return pump on my 120. I have a good sized tank with a 40...

Questions on refugium(new to salt water!!!)

DO NOT use pool filter sand. It is made of silica. You need argonite sand.

Changing canister filter from fresh to saltwater

I would chuck the canister and just get a return pump. Canisters are not the best choice for a SW tank. The maintenance you need to do for SW is pretty extreme. It doesn’t add anything positive and does add a lot of negatives like high nitrates. Your live rock will provide the filtration...

I wouldn’t keep both species of clown. It will get ugly. Even in a huge tank you can only have one species of clown. Watch them closely. When thing go bad it tends to be like flipping a switch, one minute all is hunky dory the next it is a fight to the death.

Should be fine. A watchman would also work.

    Adding correct fish

Coral isn’t necessary for a reef structure. The fish don’t care about that. They just need the hides holes to move in and out of. It makes them feel secure.

    Adding correct fish

Your tank isn’t really big enough to add a larger fish. You could do one of the dwarf angels, they get about 3 inches. I have a flame angel that is very colorful. before you try any more fish I’d work on getting your aquascape into more of a reef like environment, not meaning corals but a lot...

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

You might keep your 10 gallon as a quarantine tank. It just takes one infected fish to destroy all of them. If you have enough light anemones don’t mine each other. If your light isn’t intense enough they won’t make it. Fortunately the two you got look healthy, often they are pretty...
