    Starting again

Simple tank I’d still use some rock although I’d use dry rock. You need the surface area of the Rick to colonize bacteria. Fake coral won’t give you that be will it give the fish a low stress habitat. id do a 1 inch sand bed of Argonite sand, not play sand. It doesn’t need to be live sand...

    Newbie 24 gallon all-in-one reefer.

It is probably from worms. I don’t remember what kind but they use the cobwebby stuff just like a spider.

    How am I doing?

No point in testing anything but ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate at this point. There is nothing in your tank that will use those things up so what is in the salt mix is what you will have. give the cycle time to finish then you want to add additional sources of ammonia like fish food to make...

    lighting

Because you only have softies you could add a 2 bulb T5 fixture to the fluval. Get good quality ATI or Giessman bulbs. At least 1 actinic and the other with a lot in the blue spectrum. The fixture doesn’t need to be a fancy expensive one but the bulbs need to be good quality and you need to...

On your cube one should be fine.

    Fake coral

I don’t dose anything. I would if I needed it but so far it hasn’t been necessary.

Mine is always high. I stopped worrying about it a long time ago.

    55 gallon tank

Hammers probably, they are an easy place to start. Dunkins also. Frog spawn and torches are harder.

    Acclimating saltwater mollies to freshwater?

You can take the salinity down fairly fast you just can’t go up fast.

    Fake coral

In my experience they can be pretty high. Mine are often over 50 and my coral does great.

    Fake coral

Softies thrive with higher nitrates, LPS too.

    55 gallon tank

Some maybe but I wouldn’t count on it. Bubble coral is hard, few have good success, zoas yes.

    55 gallon tank

They may be great for years then bam the decide to be jerks or the could be jerks from the get go or they may be fine. You never know. . I have a flame that Ive had for atleast 5 years. He doesn’t bother my coral, so far. He doesn’t bother other fish but I have a 120 with lots of live rock...

    Fake coral

Maybe too much light for the zoas. Nems need a lot zoas don’t. You could try star polyps they do well low in my tank. The SPS are up high in the tank and the nems are where they want to be.

    Fake coral

personally I’m not a fan. I prefer some simple softies to the fake stuff If nothing else for the movement. I can see the advantage though Especially if you don’t want to limit fish. the good fakes are really expensive.

    55 gallon tank

I’d definitely do the clowns. A fire fish, shrimp goby, royal gramma, a flasher wrasse. To me that would be a full tank.

I wouldn’t change if it is working.

    55 gallon tank

dwarf angels need more territory than a 55 will allow. I guarantee your freshwater lights won’t work for coral And they will cause huge algae problems. Coral needs specific wavelengths that are not in the bulbs used for freshwater. The fixture may be good enough for some softies if you...
