    5g reef

Oh, I also just bought a desktop computer for my home. So if I have anything long to post, I can do it. I may even get back in to writing articles again. Who knows.

    5g reef

Yeah, I would rather them go to someone with a tank, but I don't know a lot of people who are willing to take what some people believe are weeds. I'm not big into my local frag swaps. There aren't many people in my area. Anyways, I am going to order a kessil a80 this afternoon from Amazon.

    5g reef

That's the plan. My LFS buys it for $5/stalk. I'll cut off what I want to frag. A buddy of mine has a frag tank I can put it in to recover before selling it. All's good. :)

    5g reef

I'm going to try to keep my coral selections local to support a local business. I'll just have to be a little selective there. I wish I could find a tiny little piece of nepthea. I also want some pulsing xenia in this tank. I think it would look great if it could spread and fill the tank up...

    5g reef

Zoa's will take over pretty quickly, but so will any other soft corals. I will frag off any gap that starts growing on the rocks and I'll try to keep the zoa's contained on a rock or two. This is just a little hobby tank. I'm excited to see what it developed into. Thanks for the ID Joe.

    5g reef

The LFS gave me a little Kenya tree to try out. I would rather a brother but I'll take whatever I can get. Lol. I guess that's some kind of brain coral. Can someone ID? I also go a bunch of zoa's, a couple pretty green mushrooms, a small orange montipora, and some green star polyps. Nine...

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii295/SnakeBlitz33/Mobile Uploads/IMG_20161127_203455_zpsnuw8spaw.jpg Little tank shot update. I bought some easy soft corals. The tank is showing zero ammonia and nitrite. I'm thinking about buying some chemipure for the mini-sump and some "fuel" by...

    5g reef

Oh yeah, I love blastos. Thanks for the tip. I figure it's not going to take much to fill the tank up with what I want, so I have to be kind of selective on what I get.

    5g reef

Makes sense. I've never had a 5g before. I'm gonna order the new Kessle A80 nano reef light. I know it might be a little overkill, but I like the color of a quality LED light more than the cheaper versions. I think it makes the colors of the corals "pop" just a little more. I'm going to keep...

    5g reef

I'm researching on Amazon tonight. I'll find a decent one soon. I'm going to ghost feed the tank some in the morning. Just trying to help it along to stuff it with soft corals. Still seeing very little evaporation so far. I'm excited to get it going again.

    Led light for 5g tank?

    Yeah, I like customization.

    Led light for 5g tank?

    Lol, thanks for the variety!

    Led light for 5g tank?

I'm hoping there is a cheap led light for a small tank that will keep some soft corals thriving? I've been out of the hobby for a little while now and I'm just wondering if the market has adapted to pico/nano reef tanks needs yet...

    5g reef

I found a couple stocks of what I think is Kenya tree that will probably survive the cycle. I was going to buy some more live rock, but since I am buying soft corals, they will come on their own rocks, so I'm not adding any more for now. Anyone have some suggestions on a halfway decent LED...

    5g reef

I restarted the tank last night with three pounds of live rock and all new saltwater. The tank was clear this morning. I went ahead and added a tiny little bit of mysis to kick start the nitrogen cycle. I need to get a power strip so I can plug in the heater today. My house stays pretty warm...

    5g reef

I am taking out all of the base rock in the tank and switching to all live rock. I also bought pre-mixed saltwater. The saltwater had some kind of bacterial bloom. I think I am just going to start fresh. I am upgrading the stock pump tonight as well. Pics to follow.

    5g reef

The tank has a small glass top.on it that actually has quite a bit of room for air flow. I'm going to mark a line on the tanks side and top it off every day. I don't have room in the sump area for an ATO unless I do some heavy mods.

    5g reef

So the tank fits exactly four gallons of water. It could go up to five, but it would be at the very top edge. I also already have rock in it, so I have to account for that. The teeny tiny stock pump that came with it is just barely putting anything much out at all. So, I am going to upgrade the...

    5g reef

I'm putting some sand and saltwater in it today. I got a tiny heater that will fit well. I don't know if there will be any bacteria in it to get the cycle started, but I'll add a tiny bit of mysis shrimp just in case. The tank is so tiny that I'm not going to worry about much more than regular...
