New fish are dying...can't figure it out.

How long do you acclimate this way? How often do you add a cup of water and how much water do you add? Its possible to acclimate this way but the drip method is probably less stressful because its a gradual change. Airline tubing costs like 2$ at a hardware store and you just tie a not to adjust...

what would be a good firefish tankmate

The growth speed of mushrooms will depend on a large number of things. They prefer water with more nutrients and they like light but dont need a lot of it. They can move around your tank and leave a part of their foot behind and that would eventually grow into a new mushroom. I have read you...

what would be a good firefish tankmate

The other thing with all corals but specifically Xenia is that it will spread and take over almost anything in the tank. Mushrooms are known to do this as well.

I would do just some zoanthids and some mushrooms and if you wanted to you could glue green star polyps to the back glass and let then spread.

I use a fluval 406 and a sea clone 100 with 80lbs of live rock in my 60 gallon reef which has 7 fish, radioactive dragon eye zoas, an aussie meat coral, candy cap montipora, hammer coral, pulsating xenia, toadstool, and a sinularia finger leather coral.

what would be a good firefish tankmate

I would do a purple firefish and a yellow clown goby but that's just my opinion. a red firefish would look cool with a green clown goby too. Just a matter of opinion and how much you want to spend.

    my new fish.

My kole tang took around a month to start eating frozen, pellet or sheet algae, he picked off the rocks a lot. Starting with a healthy fat specimen definitely increases the chances of success.

Starting a 2nd tank, fish suggestions welcomed

The reason your tang has only grown half an inch is fish will only grow to a certian point in a small tank. If that same tang was in a 200 gallon system it might have grown 1-2" because it has the space to grow. A fish will never stop growing but keeping it in a smaller tank could slow down...
