Hi, My GUESS: New fish had to establish his territory, and the damsel picked the wrong fish to mess with. Both of your fish choices are known bullies... about 6 months to a year, the damsels nasty disposition comes out. A 29g is pretty small for saltwater, sounds like a territory war.
