aquarium about to fall apart help

I have seen braces pop... And I agree it usually isn't that big a deal, but I never seen one that separated, maybe it's an optical illusion that it's spread apart that far...looks like 3 to 4 inches. LOL...But now I re-read the original post, and I see he said 5/8 ....Acrylic tanks are plastic...

aquarium about to fall apart help

Sorry, but that tank is no longer safe, the tank bowed out to cause the brace to snap...time for a new tank ASAP! It isn't just the brace under duress, the whole thing is held together by silicone on the edges, the brace is just a help to hold it steady. The tank has been compromised, and should...

    need a little help

Hi, Far as I know, and I have two chillers...All the chiller needs to work, is have water flow through it, it won't matter how you get that to happen. You can use a canister filter, a separate pump, or any other means to get water from the tank to pass through the chiller, and back to the tank.

New to saltwater, but need to rescue a tank

Hello. welcome to the site! I don't know what you may already know, so I will assume nothing at all, so we don't miss a step. First purchase... a good beginners book. The only thing saltwater tanks and freshwater have in common, is the fact they are both tanks with water in them. One does not...

    type of corals advice sought

If Xenia does well, it does really well, and populates like fire... if it doesn't, nothing seems to work to keep them alive. Kenya tree would flow in the current, and is pretty hardy, it too will spread, but the green neon is a much slower growing, fancier version of the regular.

    type of corals advice sought

Hi, Xenia will quickly outgrow your nano tank. Mushroom coral would be a good choice, and there are several colors you can go for and make an awesome looking nano.

    Hammer Coral

LOL...That's because they want you to use lots of their product, so you can buy more. If your water test says you are within range, you don't need to dose a supplement, if the test results show you are low, that's when, and the only time you dose. Never ever dose anything unless you test first.

Where are these things coming from, another visitor from ?

Okay, the picture is clear enough to be able to see, but I can't find it...LOL, can you circle the spot? The pinkish looking blob seems too round to be what you are talking about. o_O What you describe could be a sea slug, or isopod... they come on the live rock and are algae/detritus eaters...

    Hammer Coral

Hello, How often??? Right after you do the proper test, and find out if you need to dose anything. You don't just dump supplements into your tank.

2 Types of Red Algae Good, Bad or Indifferent

Hi, Your shrimp should not molt very often, how often since you started your tank has/have it/they molted? Shrimp SHOULD only molt when they outgrow their skin, and they don't grow that fast. If they are molting often, something is wrong. Molting when you first put them in the tank is normal...

    salt change

Hi, This is only going by what has been posted in the past, so it isn't my own experience I'm going by. I have read that it isn't wise to swap suddenly. This is what I would do: Read the two boxes and compare the differences between the two. If they are the same, I wouldn't worry about it. If...

    Freckles my Potbelly seahorse died.

My tank looks so, so empty....I harvested the macros today, my leg has been swollen ever since I got off the step ladder. I don't think I would want the tank to sit lower, it looks great just the way it is. I do have somebody I could hire to do it for $25.00...I think that's going to be the...

    Sea slugs?

Hi, They get their colors from what they eat...being able to have just the right type of algae is hard to do. When you look at $40.00+ just for shipping on top of the critters cost, that's a lot of risk to take on a critter that is considered difficult to keep alive. It's not like you can go...

Hey ya'll. lots of questions ans b yes some may be stupid.

LOL... I love SW for the same reason, not to mention a fish that isn't silver with some almost hint of orange or blue tint, the colors on SW fish really pop. SW tanks made me feel young again, there was, and still is, always something to be in awe of and discover.

Hey ya'll. lots of questions ans b yes some may be stupid.

Sounds like you were more successful then I was on keeping FW tanks. I couldn't keep a planted tank to save my life, the fish uprooted or ate the plants. I spent a small fortune on plants, and decided on the little plugs to let them grow (cheaper) but tender plants were a favorite snack. Once a...

    Freckles my Potbelly seahorse died.

Thanks Bang Guy, sigh... the cold water SW tank was quite the experience. The price of those potbelly horses was just too much to replace the loss. I have bristle worms in the 90g too, so no way am I going to put Kuda horses in there. I should be smart and get out since I can't climb the ladder...
