    Nitrates

10 won’t hurt fish not even most coral. If the system is allowing nitrates to increase they will probably continue to rise. The system is out of balance meaning the biological filtration can’t keep up with the waste. Mine are often above 50, I shoot for 25 or less. A single water change...

Best Wrasse for a Biocube 29?

A bio cube doesn’t really provide enough swimming space for a wrasse.

    Pairing going wrong?! Fighting maroons

That is because they are both female. You can’t have two female clowns. They will fight until one dies.

    Pairing going wrong?! Fighting maroons

Guaranteed they are both female. Maroons change very fast and at a very young age, if they are alone. It is very rare you will get a bonded pair. You need to start with two very small clowns picked from a large group and add them at the same time. I’d pick the one you like best and recomend...

Help! Spot on Blue Throat Triggerfish

I wouldn’t waste your money on a UV sterilizer. They won’t prevent or cure disease and they can kill beneficial life that helps keep the tank balanced.

Help! Spot on Blue Throat Triggerfish

Did you quarantine the fish? It could be a parasitic infection, commonly found in the wholesalers systems especially if it appears to be spreading.

    WYSIWYG!!!

I think there are a number of smaller outfits but I have no experience with them at all. I’ve only ordered from SWF and DD. I also have a small number of fish, most for many years so I am very careful adding new. My community is stable and I worry about upsetting the balance.

    Cycling.... diatoms?!

Could well be you have good colonies of bacteria on your rock when you got it. Fish food will be going into the tank eventually. There shouldn’t be any negative bacteria issues with the food. These delicate fish would not make it if there was. Diatoms are the start of the uglies. It is a...

sizing and necessity of a RO\DI system

I have to disagree. The contaminants build up with tap water. As water evaporates and we top off with tap water the contaminant levels increase. Even water changes don’t help reduce them because we are adding the same water with the same contaminants back.

sizing and necessity of a RO\DI system

There are a couple ways. You need a water source. And a drain line You can set it up permanently in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room. With this set up you attach the input directly to the water line. They make adapters that allow you to attach it to the area where the water shut off...

sizing and necessity of a RO\DI system

The RO is always attached, when the water goes to the tank it also goes through the DI resin. My DI resin is in a separate canister that is isolated from the rest of the system. When it is used for drinking it doesn’t go through the DI resin. I have the RO+DI plumbed directly to my ATO and...
