    What is this?

Yeah must be doing fine in order to do that right? And I'm not sure either. I know some species will do that and they aren't even fertilized.. so you may wanna look into it.

Been wanting to ask this for years

I believe there are a ton of factors for this... But just like us every fish is different and have their own personalities and will sometimes be in a good mood and feel great and other times not so much. I have had several of the same types of fish that behaved very differently from one another...

Good skimmer for a decent price

Hey guys and girls. My newest tank is in dire need of a skimmer. I Got one for my birthday (it was a large Chinese off brand skimmer) I haven't worried about setting it up yet because my system is pretty new but it is now a past time and I am in desperate need of one. The one I have is simply...

I added a firefish goby to mine and he hid with my babershop. Then I put a peppermint shrimp in and it hid with both of them.

    brand new to sw tanking

Little nano tanks like that will use bio balls or bio pellets or sponge media in their built in filters in the compartment in the back. It has a small internal overflow and pump. You need sand, live rock and you need to get it running then start the cycle.. fully cycle your tank before adding...

    small active swimmers

My small black and white clown never stops. Good choice for an active fish that's not going to ever hide much. Same thing with my green chromis. In the damsel family but not nearly as aggressive. But yeah I know what you mean. By barbershop goby and even my firefish goby hide all day long.

    ID This Coral?

Hmm... well if they do not extend out more than what you are showing here then either it's not happy or it's not it... hold on I know someone else that is very familiar with Goniopora's that I will ask and see what she says. @mandy111 Does this look like a retracted Goni to you?

    ID This Coral?

Looks like a Goniopora to me. (Flower pot coral) With it's polyps retracted. Do the polyps come out more than that? How long have you had it?

ich- what exact methods do we know for sure work?

And @jay0705 ich does live and occur in the wild. It didn't pop up as a new form of life in the aquarium. We are just providing the right conditions for the buggers to thrive as well as for the fish not to be able to avoid infection, reinfection. Just takes a much easier hold in aquariums...

ich- what exact methods do we know for sure work?

I always thought that warmer temperatures speed up the cycle.. via higher metabolism. When I did hypo, I also increased my water temp to 80 - 82 degrees and aerated the tank.

Oh and reading back on this... you had said you had a presence of ammonia and you did a water change... When cycling a tank you don't want to do that. You want to allow the bacteria to build up and consume the ammonia. I understand you prob wanted to do this because you already had fish in the...

    swdummie

Yeah @swdummie this is going to get narrowed down through process of elimination. How you acclimated the fish will help either identify that as the cause or eliminate it. Also what symptoms are your fish having leading up to their death? Anything visible on them? Heavy breathing? How fast are...

    Current USA orbit marine

Yeah I thought it was weird when he told that to me cause everyone seems to be after higher output.. the more the better. He's the guy at my local fish store.. but I knew him and did trades with him way before he opened the store. He's always been big in coral so I figured he had that happen...
