    Moving a toxic tank help!

Wow...That was a mouthful...LOL.. As for point #1: I didn't say anything against blasting the rock or swishing it with seawater, which is a great idea, I only mentioned the sand. I said to not clean the filter media, or go taking apart and scrubbing up the power heads. It's very tempting to...

    My own newbie thread

I keep no hermits, and no astrae snails either, if a snail is too stupid to turn themselves upright, I don't know how the species even continues. Instead I get a combo of brittle or serpent stars, and nassarous snails, they will feed on the wasted food that falls into the rocks, they are meat...

    Moving a toxic tank help!

I love my 90g, it's the perfect size for me, and it's the same length as the 55g so it fit right in the same space. I would go with the bagged live sand...it's just loaded with good bacteria. So it isn't really LIVE sand, but it is helpful to keep things stable, or go with live reef sand. I...

    who would divorce?

{{{HUG}}} It's a tuff thing to have to go through, at least you now have a plan. You can legally separate, that way your money will be freed up when it's time to check out. Getting everything in order so you have a smooth transition is very wise...

How long do you store SW before using it?

Bubbles cause salt creep, a power head moves the water much better....The wave is the life of the ocean, and your saltwater tank. ***** has pretty cheap power heads that have a suction clip attachment, that work awesome, even better then the magnets...Not all of us can afford the MP40s

    Tangs & Seaweed

LOL...Are we really that bad for shutting folks down? Just a note for in the future, you can always purchase a fish and have the store hold it for you. To be honest, unless it's a rare fish, you can always find another specimen when your system is ready for it, instead of taking a chance by...

    Moving a toxic tank help!

Hi, I have moved my tank many times. First...make up enough new saltwater, be sure to use RO water not tap, at the destination point, let it churn for 24 hours. Swish the sand around in the old water once everything is removed, that will release any toxins. You can also put new mixed saltwater...

Newly discovered black and white creature

Maybe it's just me...but it looks like a hermit crab, they are the only ones I know of with striped legs. There are so many strange critters in the ocean, you might be the first to see this species...AWESOME! ...If it is a hermit crab, it could have decided a hole in the the rock is a shell, or...

    who would divorce?

At some point, you have to quit talking and put a plan into action. You don't have to leave, just start living your life the way you want to. Go to the gym, play your piano...spend some time for yourself. Let her take care of her animals, if she can't make a cage, barn whatever to confine...

    who would divorce?

As long as I was willing to do the work, my husband allowed me to do it. I worked a full time physical job, cared for the children, cooked, cleaned, cut the lawn, cleared the snow, washed the cars, and anything that I couldn't do...paid somebody to do. My husband in the early years, went to work...

Why are air bubbles bad for a saltwater tank?

True...but I find there always seems to be something. LOL...My daily mood kind of goes with if the tank is okay or not.

Why are air bubbles bad for a saltwater tank?

LOL...Cleaning the back of tank is far worse I think then cleaning the light which is easy to reach. Seahorses fill their pouches with air, I don't think an air stone would be a good thing for me, I will stay with what has been the norm when it comes to them. Although the gas bubble disease has...

Why are air bubbles bad for a saltwater tank?

I never gave the heat a thought, it's a T5HO and doesn't give off much heat, but more then an LED unit would... I wouldn't cover the vents...I have that cling stuff, so I guess I will have to head to the grocery store to get some made to take heat.

Why are air bubbles bad for a saltwater tank?

I was told by so many people to not use air stones, I just assumed they knew what they were talking about. I know that bubble curtains look really awesome, but the salt creep has to be terrible. I have 3 air lines and no air stones (seahorses do better without power heads) the salt creep is the...

    Broken Chiller...AAAAHHHH

LOL...I am so sore. But the tank was a cool 67 degrees this morning, so everything is back to normal. I'm glad it all worked right. Nothing worse then stuff going wrong when there are no stores open, it's a lesson learned a long time ago. That tank was just too warm to be able to wait, so I had...
