Just a note on shipping. IMO you should hold off on feeding you fish before you ship. The small water volume involved in shipping will raise the ammonia level quickly with the introduction of waste
Safe that depends on how stable your parameters are. Wise not so. This is not a hobby to get into if you do not have patients. Take your time enjoy the journey. BTW salt creep will also affect your salinity when in doubt test.
the real danger IMO is introducing anything into you tank with our proper reserch. if you are going to introdice prime and not know how and why it works shame on you
My .02 Prime does not remove ammonia or nitrite but 'locks' them into less toxic chemical compounds . you will still get a test results for ammonia if it is present it is just detoxified
UP for over a year wow that's going to hurt. anyway don't get to caught up on turnover rate you want your bio load to have good contact time with your rocks or mechanical filtration media
