sizing and necessity of a RO\DI system

Yes it is important to use RODI water. Long term you’ll have a better, healthier tank. Size of the system doesn’t matter much only in how fast it makes the water. My tank is 120 with a 40 gallon sump. I have a BRS 5 stage unit. It makes, according to specs, 70 gal per day. In reality mine...

    Bleached GBTA?

Fish no, corals, depends on the coral but most will adjust and then thrive as long as they are slowly acclimated. I had two of those fixtures on my 40 gallon breeder which is very shallow, specifically to support anemones.

    New tank on its way...

Looks like a good start. Just some suggestions and warnings. 1. I’d increase the salinity to 1.025 to 1.026. Lower salinity is not an advantage. 2. Instant ocean is a great choice. I’ve been using it for well over 20 years. 3. Don’t count on the bottled bacteria to help much. Your cured...

    Sick Koran Angelfish

Looks more like lymphocytosis than fungus. Copper won’t help either and is poison for the fish. It should only be used if it is absolutely necessary for ich or velvet.

    New tank!

No pH supplements. You will need test kits for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Both salifert and Redsea are good brands. These are to monitor the cycle which will take around 6 weeks, maybe more. I’d suggest setting up a quarantine tank now while your tank cycles. That way it will be ready...

    lyrtail anthias

Nope they need a lot of space to swim. The 6 foot length is the important part. They also need to be fed several times a day.

    lyrtail anthias

Anthias need a large tank, 125 or bigger. They are swimmers and they are jumpers. They will get seriously stressed if they are in too small of a space. Aggression is also more likely in a small tank. This can lead to disease or the fish jumping out of the tank. Either way I’d move the...

Seaclone 100 producing thousands of micro bubbles

It is usually a box that the skimmer dumps the water into then it overflows the box into the tank. Some have a sponge at the top.

    Blue jaw trigger

They aren’t naturally fish eaters, more crustaceans. I would think if it is well fed it would be fine. The gobi can get into tiny holes and hide.

    API Quick-Start Issue?

You can also ghost feed. This will keep the bacteria going. Never add fish until the tank is fully cycled then one at a time after appropriate quarantine.

    Seahorse & crabs ! HELP

Watch for infection. Sea horses are prone infections . They should also be kept in colder water than other SW fish to help prevent this.

My 2 Moray Didn't Eat Since Last Thursday

The nitrite spike was probably preceded by an ammonia spike. I agree with Jay you need a much bigger tank.

Seaclone 100 producing thousands of micro bubbles

Micro bubbles are common with HOB skimmers. You need some sort of bubble trap to stop that. It is a problem in sump skimmers too but the sump serves as a bubble trap. Wet skimate is also common with HOB skimmers, not a big deal you just need to empty it more often.

    API Quick-Start Issue?

Pretty typical. It usually takes 6 weeks or more to fully cycle a tank. Patience is important in salt water. I’d suggest you work on getting a quarantine tank set up while you wait. Every fish you add should needs to be quarantined at least 30 days to prevent bringing any diseases into your...

    What is that!?

Very difficult to keep. In my opinion not something that should be in the aquarium trade. My understanding is they have a very specific diet, one particular kind of sponge. They starve in tank.

    What is that!?

What kind of sea slug. Sea slug covers a vast number of animals. Not recommended and certainly not for a beginner. They have specialized diets and do very poorly in a tank

    Looking for fish opinions

I love grammas but yeah have never been able to keep one very long. I had a fire fish with my orchid dottyback with no issues. I’m not sure how it would do with a gramma, they have the same body type. If we are talking about your cube I’d say no, not enough territory, in your dad’s 125 it...
