    Not really sure what you have.can you post a pic? Its an in display tank sump? Or under in the stand? If its an in tank i wouldnt think the skimmer would be big enough for a tank that size.

    I have always just run rock alot of flow and water changes weekly or so.just add fish slow.i have used skimmers and didnt see a big difference in anything in the tank.yea it pulls gunk out but wasnt worth the time for me.

    If you run a canister imo its still a kind of sump right? Still on the floor with pipes going up and down.hob double wheel filter with alot of lr and flow will work just fine.

    I brought in ich on corals. Anything with water on it can.it was a 250 gallon tank what a nightmare.

    I put my 250 on a pier and beam home.just tput the tank along the wall running opposite of the floor boards so it was more sturdy.no problems

    Couldnt hurt. If you are getting cured rock it doesnt always give a good first cycle.i would do a shrimp i there for a few days

    Dont read into having to have all kinds of equipment. The only proven thing imo to keep a healthy tank is time time and more time for the tank to mature.water changes alot of rock and flow.simple.just dont add fish too fast.let the system grow with the stock.i had a 90 gallon running over 10 yrs...
