    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Here's the pump: It's the 2200 model. I may have an older model because use to have another brand name before the lifegard part. http://www.lifegardaquatics.com/products/product.php?id=10 mp Model Maximum Flow GPH Minimum Flow GPH * Max Flow at 1' Max Flow at...

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

I've messed around with different parts of it. I've tried to adjust the overflow box and position it in the tank differently. I took the foam cover for the pump and put it on the end of the drain line to sort of act as a filter sock - it should slow water more than those thin filters. Still no...

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Hey Shawn. I haven't tried the filter as a filter sock on the drain line but that's next. As far as the overflow box, here's a picture of it. The part inside the tank is your run of the mill clear box with the teeth at the top.

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

I put the foam cover back on the intake of the pump and it did indeed seem to slow it down and raise the water level. Now it's just about 2 inches from the top. Still microbubbles though. Wondering if it's just this pump and now way to really fix it.

Those baffles are kind of wide. But, I think I can fit the the three 100W heaters in there easily and that'll be a good place for circulation so maybe it will serve a purpose after all.

Oh and yes, the drain line is completely submerged... quite a bit.

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Thanks for checking it out for me Shawn. Unfortunately, I don't think I have a means of slowing down the pump. It did have this big foam ting that went over the intake. I could put the back on and see it will slow it down any? But once the foam part gets saturated, it might be back to green...

Here's a picture... Blue line just above water line to help show where it's at. Blue arrow to show where water is pouring over the last baffle.

I might try putting a filter on the end of the drain line.

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Ok, yes there are bubbles in the far left section of the sump where the water drains in. The first baffle is pointless right now because the water is so high that it just goes over it. The water goes under the second baffle and pours over the top of the third into the pump section. I had to poor...

Haven't done the flashlight test yet, but what if I put a HOB filter without carbon on the end of the drain... would that work like a filter sock?

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Thanks Shawn! I do hope we can work this out. I took back a 250W heater, thought about getting two 200W, and bought three 100W because I could fit those in the sump and keep them out of the DT. Hope it works.

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Thanks Shawn. I'll check it out when I get home today. The first and last baffle are 7 inches high. I would estimate the second baffle to be about 1.5 inches off the bottom. I went with 2 inches between the baffles because I saw people saying 1.5 inches was ideal and I was like, well, I'll...

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Yep. Just unplugged pump to sort of test a power outage. The return pump started acting as a siphon and putting water from the tank back into the tank. I have 5 gallon buckets on stand by but I might have been in trouble. Beginning to want to give up on the sump and go HOB skimmer and HOB filter...

    Microbubbles Everywhere!

Before baffles... After baffles... Overflow box drains to portion on the left where I was going to put skimmer, then baffles, then return pump sits in section on the right. I've added so much water to cover that pump that I think I'm in trouble if the power cuts off. But, I still have a tank...

    One HUGE MAMA

I feel like a rookie here, but what is that? Something that hitchhiked into your tank and grew?

Heaters: Is Three 50W as good as one 200W?

Thanks Shawn and Corey! Lately you guys are the helpful two! Haha. Great points 2Q! The lights get pretty hot and do not sit that high above the water so I bet that heats the water too. Right now I have one 65W 10K that works, but when I buy replacements I'll have two of those and two actinics...
