can i use the water in my garbage can to cycle the tank? Its all nitrate in there.

hey guys, i recently set up a new 20 gallon fish tank with a 20 gallon sump/refugium (also with a 2Inch sandbed). The thing is, I cycled the rocks in a garbage can and some were from my established tank. Do i still need to go through the cycling process inside the 20 gallon fish tank?

Hey thanks for the advice. But how do I come about doing that change to a refugium? Should I remove one of the drain lines and bio ball section and just add chaeto in there? and would I need a lamp underneath as well?

hey guys, i was wondering if it was cause any problems if i added like a reef package cleaning inverts into my already cycled tank? the package i ordered has like 70 species of inverts, and i currently have a coral, live rocks, and a few fishes in my 150 gallon tank.
