    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

Thanks for the reply Reef. I'll order a 2x54 icecap retro tonight then. I've seen some retro kits that have 2 t5ho lamps and 2 MH lamps together so that with the original 2x54 will hopefully provide plenty of light. Thanks again!

    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

I was thinking of just getting a 2x54 t5ho retro kit for now while it's fowlr. Later on when I decide to do corals I can pick up another 2x54/MH kit. Is there any reason this would be a bad idea? I want to order my lights tonight, so if someone could provide some input real quick that would...

    New 75G Diary

I finally got the stand done!! Me and my brother had a time getting it into my house from the basement (what a chore lol). I did a test fit with the tank to make sure everything is level and what not. Up to this point the project is going fairly smooth. I have to order my retro lights...

    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

Ok good, the one I was looking at was a 48" 4x54 with two triad ballasts. It also says it comes with whatever bulbs I want, that they carry. Its a tek 2 retro kit from reefgeek for $299. Would this be suitable now and later on for simple corals and such?

    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

Awesome, you may have saved me a couple hundred $. If I am able to post brands/items let me know and I'll show you what I'm considering now. Correct me if I'm wrong but I want to get a 4 bulb kit with 2 separate ballasts on timers so I can do (hopefully) a proper day/night cycle with the...

    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

Thanks for the reply. I have found some reasonably priced 48" kits. Since the tank won't have any coral will I be ok with 2 10,000k 54w bulbs and 2 actinic 03 54w bulbs? The kit I found has t5 vho ballast with 15% overdrive and parabolic clip on reflectors. Thanks again for your help If...

    Lighting and Skimmer advice please

I am working on getting my 75g FOWLR going. This is my first saltwater tank, so I'm kind of on edge with making sure everything is done right. I've been doing a lot of reading / research on skimmers and after reading threads here and reviews around the net I've somewhat settled on the ETSS...

    New 75G Diary

I haven't had the chance to do an update, but I have managed to get all the trim on and the first coat of stain. I took the lazy route and decided not to stain the entire top since the tank will cover it up anyway lol. Once this dries, I'm going to sand it and put on a few more coats. It...

Unfortunately I had to help my brother hang drywall today so I didn't get anything else accomplished with the stand. I did include some pics of my progress so far. I ended up having to do the bottom in 3 pieces. Doing it in 2 (which was my original plan) would have required another sheet of...

YWell I got the skin on last night minus the front and one small strip for the bottom. I still need to cut the holes for the front doors and I'm not quite sure what the best way to do it is. I had lowes cut the dimensions for me and a couple pieces didn't come out right so I'm hoping the trim...

It's 37" tall. I built it a little tall so the tank would sit closer to eye level. I have a little step ladder that I will use for tank maintenance. I also figured a little more wiggle room under the stand would allow for easier plumbing and stuff. I don't know if it matters, I just assumed...

    New 75G Diary

Hey everyone. I'm new to the boards, and saltwater all together. I decided to start with a 75g FOWLR rimless display and a 40 long or 50 tall sump/refugium. It will be a slow process before the tank is in full swing. After the amount of money it will take to get this going, I refuse to let...
