    I need a show fish

does the mag foxface freak out and change colors alot like a typical foxface? I'm kind of leaning towards a trigger or large angel. I will google scribbled angel, I can't believe people actually pay that much for a gem tang (cool fish), but I'd rather spend the money and snorkel in the red...

    Skimmer

don't know about the 200, but I have the msx 250 on my 240 reef and it is unbelievable. Spend a little extra money and go with the 250, two pumps are better than one imo

how many tangs can go into a 100 gallon aquarium

All these tangs are of the larger species of tangs. I personally wouldn't put a naso in that size tank. They grow fast under proper conditions. I once had a Naso, hippo and powder brown in a 90 gallon reef. The Naso quickly outgrew the tank and I could tell he wasn't happy so I gave it to a...

Anyone use a rubbermaid for a sump?

I have a 240 reef tank with limited space in the stand because of the bracing in the center. I am using a rubbermaid roughneck tote that I believe is 32x21x13 inches tall. I have a smaller rubbermaid tote inside that houses my msx 250 skimmer. The overflows drain into the skimmer section...

    using 2 skimmers

I am currently running 2 skimmers also, a coralife 220 and a aqua-c remora pro on my 240 reef. I've gotten decent production out of both and have ran my tank this way for about a year now. I'm starting to keep sps now and more delicate fish so I just ordered an msx 250. You'll be fine

How can I make this work?

that looks great, I am also thinking of putting a smaller rubbermaid toughbox like the one you posted inside the bigger sump. What is the reasoning behind the 45 degree elbows on the plumbing and also what size is that container? Is that an msx 200 or 250, mine should be arriving wednesday

How can I make this work?

I have a 240 gallon reef and just ordered a msx 250 protein skimmer. My sump is under the tank and space is limited because of 2x4s in the center for bracing. I am currently using a rubbermaid sump/refugium that is 32x21x13tall. How can I incorperate this skimmer and also keep a constant...

Any algae plants that my snails wont eat?

I have halemeda(spelling?) algae that suddenly started growing from my liverock that looks pretty cool. I also have about 10 turbos along with other snails and hermits in my 240 reef. Halemeda doesn't attract snails, hermits, or herbivores being calcium based. I started noticing it about 6...

Bought a piece of liverock guess what came out!

I was setting up my first tank and bought about 25 pounds of lr from my lfs, brought it home and to my surprise I found a small hippo tang laying dead in the styrofoam box. I still tried to revive it by floating it because I heard that hippo tangs will play dead. The lfs is about 2 minutes...

    Help with dream tank

don't get a 240 tall(6ft), I have one and wish I would have went with a 180. I can't reach the 6inch sand bed without tongs and a stepladder. It's a pain to clean and if something falls or goes behind the rockwork it's a chore. I run 4 175 watt hallides with spider reflectors and I'm not very...

    i want a hippo tang

It's a tough call, in a lightly stocked tank you might be okay. The 92gallon corner isn't ideal for hippo tangs, as they like longer tanks to roam 6ft min IMO. Does anyone have a hippo in a 92?

    what brand test kit?

+1 on Salifert, ApI test kits are notorious for there inaccuracy especially on nitrate tests. I personally like Elos the best, but you have to buy individual tests. Pricing varies

    911...help!

What test kit are you using and how old is it? I have a brand new api test kit that shows my nitrates are at 100ppm, I tried everything to get my nitrates down as well(water changes once a week, refugium with chaeto, bigger better skimmer, less feeding) but then I bought an Elos nitrate test...

    i want a hippo tang

It is also to get a healthy specimen. Don't just go out and buy one, have the lfs hold it for you and watch it for a couple weeks before you make the purchase. Make sure the hippo is eating and the stomach isn't pinched in. The tang should be very active and provided alot of live rock to...
