Multiply 155 x's 40... IOW 6200 GPH... you want most of that to come from either a closed loop or powerheads. you want in the neighborhood of 5-6 x's turnover through your sump... or around 900 GPH flow through your sump..HTH

agreed start replacing the CC with Oolitic Sand. Do 1/3rd of the tank at a time and you should be ok. Also get the Bioballs out of the sump, they are Nitrate factories. For you Phosphates, Do large waterchanges every couple weeks (about 1/3rd) and start running some GFO you will see the...

    Cooking rock to rid mojano

you'll find cooking the rock likely won't rid you of the Mejanos. Instead, I recommend allowing the rock to dry outside in the sun. You will lose all the life in it, but that will come back while cooking it afterwards. Another Option is to use a small torch (like for sweating pipes together) to...

    65G Reef with Question....

What are you testing with? The calcium is a little high, but nothing to be concerned with. The KH is throwing me off though, as that looks like a number off of those 5 in 1 test strips. If you are testing with the strips then I suggest you go and get better test kit. The test strips are really...

    zoa and hitchers

those starfish are Asterina Stars. Typically they are harmless algae grazers that live on the rock and glass. But sometimes they develop a taste for Zoos and if you see them anywhere near your Zoos, get them out.

if it was curled up in a ball and now looks like that, then it wasn't a sponge. Likely some type of slug or weird looking Nudi.

    Why not?

I have 3 Clams.. 2 Croceas and a ORA Maxima. The Croceas prefer the sand and will move around a bit till they like where they are and then they will attach (mine are both attached and it's virtually impossible to move them), the Maxima has been on the same rock that I placed it on 4 months ago...

STN? Bleaching? What is it, what do I do?

If you see it progressing, frag the colony. You can also put superglue over the Necrosing tissue to try to stop it from going anyfurther.

Instant Ocean to Oceanic salt ok?

I would do a mix for the first couple changes, especially if you have SPS. Oceanic is much higher in Calcium and Alk than IO is. do a 50/50 mix (it's actually whjat I use all the time) for a few water changes and then completely make the change over to Oceanic.

What else will I need (reef start up)?

Personally I would ditch the Remora and buy an Octopus HOB skimmer. You will get more out of it than the Remora (I have had both, and the Octopus is much better)

still unsure, but it sure does look like a sponge to me... does it move around on it's own or does it just sit there?

    Phosban or Phosguard??

Anything That is Ferric Oxide is prefered (brown stuff). The Aluminum Oxide (white stuff) is not good for your tank

    Rust In Tank... Please Help

It isn't going to hurt your tank. Think Phosphate media, in particular the brown stuff... It's Ferric Oxide AKA Rust... just think you may be pulling out some phosphates with the blade :)
