I am in the process of adding a fuge to my system. I'm still operating the 30 gallon sump under the 130 gal tank in the cabinette. The fuge system is going in my basement. I just tracked my mag-drive 36 and should get it today. After some simple plumbing I should be able to engergize the new...
Ok, I have purchased a refractometer online. I should have it in a couple of days. I will than make sure that my salinity is absolutly correct.
How about my other questions? Or are they unanswerable until the hypo is confirmed or corrected?
Update: The Scopas tang is unchanged. He is in...
Yes, I can purchase one sometime this week. Is it possible that I'm not even in hyposalinity? But, aside from that. Let's pretend that I am 1.009. What do you think of one tang improving and showing no signs and the other getting worse? Do I need to think about separating? Should I look...
The QT was set up a week prior to fish being added. I test the salinity with a swing arm refract. I don't allow the nitrate/nitrites to get too red. I just switch out 50% of the water with display tank water and ro dripped back in.
I had the carbon filter and barrel filter soaking in my...
I've had two tangs in hypo for 3 weeks. One is a Scopas Tang and one is a Powder Brown tang. They both went in with equal amounts of Ich. I would say that it is moderate. The hypo is a eclipse 10 gallon. I followed Beth's wonderful step-by-steps. I lowered the salinity to 1.009 over the...

I am about to purchase a mag-drive 36. I have 9 vertical ft head, 12 horizontal ft head and approx 10 90 degree unions on 1" line (don't ask :scared: :scared: :scared: ). I talked to Danner (maker of mag-drive pumps) and didn't get resounding excitment :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: . They...
I get it occasionally, too. I use it as an indicator that I need a 20%-30% water change. You could try that. Also, your light cycle seems very long. You might want to shorten that substantially and than add light back to the cycle in small increments. Just my ideas.
Another poster (a lot of posts and I've read his before) told me to. I'ld love to get those guys back into the display. I'm using garlic and they are in hypo for 2 full weeks now. I did see one reoccurance of ich (

parasites  ). I'm currently following your directions on your...
Does anyone have any thoughts on garlic. My local fish dude gives her tangs garlic when ever they come in. She says that she has low ich problems. When she does she mashes fresh garlic cloves, soaks flake food, and adds it to the tank. Fish gobble it up. It doesn't hurt for the fish to...
My Hypo/Qt
It is just a simple eclipse system. They've been in for 2 weeks. Just 4 to go. Check your water very frequently. My fish have been very happy and active after the first couple of days. I had a reoccurance of ich 2 weeks into. Very small, though. Hypo is 1.090.
Thanks Dogstar. The Ich is, with out a doubt, less on this outbreak. I'll keep them in hypo. They seem to enjoy being included in the kitchen as opposed to the fish room.
Seriously, I must have read Beth wrong. I thought that it was three weeks. Well, it is certainly easy for me to continue to hypo. Thank you, though. How about the garlic? Any feelings on garlic, anyone?
I've had a Scopas and a Powderbrown tang in QT/Hypo for two weeks. I thought that everything was fine but I noticed that the Powderbrown has a few specks of ich. Should I shoot for another week of hypo? I was thinking of adding some garlic to the food. No clue what to do? Thanks in advance!
