Well I looked in Saxman's and Renee's Hitch Hiker ID and I think it is a Collonista - small turbo snail

Like the title says, I have noticed some of these baby snails in my tank recently, are they good or bad. I haven't introduced anything new since the upgrade.

It is like anything else you always see alot of the same fish in the same tank at LFS - they are not there long. A lot of people put cleaner shrimp in pairs I had one in my 65. I plan on putting two in soon. I think you should just go with one in a 40 gallon tank.

You could add a cleaner shrimp, might be interesting.

You should be able to remove the screw in fixtures and install the T5 there are all sorts of retro kits available. But you should consider having the top of you tank open for gas exchange, thus using a T5 arrangement with legs. Just my 2cents
