    Odd creatures

I have 2 very large feather dusters in my tank and recently they both crawled out of their tubes and were swimming around. I thought maybe something was wrong but they both crawled back to their tubes after about 2 days. I thought this was very odd but I remembered that they can crawl out if...

DPerna, I meant more sensitive to fluctuations in water quality......SG, PH, Trates, Ammonia etc. Let's say you had a sudden change in PH for whatever reason....the lemonpeel would probably be more sensitive to it than a Coral Beauty.

Just my thoughts here...... Lemonpeel Angel is a cool fish to have, a bit more sensitive to water changes than let's say a coral beauty but still a very cool fish. Blackback Butterfly is also a beautiful fish but they are not reef safe so keep that in mind, they can also be a tad aggressive too...

    feather duster

Beautiful Hawaiian duster....congrats Just a suggestion, dusters are filter feeders and you may look into getting some Kent Marine Micro-Vert or PhytoPlex to supplement your tank. If you only have 1 your tank is probably ok on it's own but if you decide to add more, those 2 supplements will...

Your stock list looks fine but I would suggest staying away from the starfish until your tank is very well established. How much LR do you plan on adding/or have? Some of those fish you stated like a lot of LR.

Eel eye infection? I don't know what it is.

Yes a pic would help a lot. My SFE played the moron once and slammed into the LR and he had a swelling over one of his eyes and it went away after about a week. It wasn't yellow though more of a milky white color......see if you can take a pic and post it.

Vacation - Fish without food ?

Sepulation, you evap a gallon a day? Wow....I must be lucky then, I top off about 2 gallons a week and I live in the southwest where it is dry. Maybe you have lighting that causes more evap??? I run PC's and 2 MH pendants but still no major evap even with a ton of surface agitation. I'm not...

    feather duster

Feathers usually do fine if you just temp acclimate them but you can add some of your tank water, wait about 15 minutes and repeat and you should be fine. I have 8 dusters and I have always just temp acclimated them and they are all doing great.

So how much does the packaging weigh?

Cardboard box, styrofoam packing and a plastic bag. The total packaging weight is very small and the pieces of rock I received from this site were VERY choice pieces.

Vacation - Fish without food ?

Catawaba, I am up in Farmington, NM. Closest decent LFS is in Durango..how about ABQ? What's good down there? I head that way quite a bit and would be interested in knowing another good place. gwh57, that one is a good one. It has the ability to tell it when to dispense food and has seperate...

Vacation - Fish without food ?

Your fish should be fine for 4 days. Most of those automatic feeders are a joke and don't work. There are a couple that run off a digital timer with seperate food containers that work alright but stay away from the ones that say they feed twice a day....they basically dispense food every 12...

Hatch n' feed brine shimp cultivator

They can sometimes take up to 48 hours to hatch. I agree that they are not the most nutritious food but some fish enjoy "hunting" them and you should consider them a treat and not a primary food source.

    Test Kits

Salifert is very good. I use Reef Master by Instant Ocean. Was a bit hesitant at first using it but the LFS tested all 5 results and they were dead on accurate.

    want a snowflake eel

    1. Strong chance of trying to escape....a cover is strongly suggested. 2. Can eat inverts if you have any. 3. Love to hide in caves and will move things around so have a solid foundation if you have LR. 4. Can be very aggressive even against small fish. 5. Messy eaters, always clean up excess...
