you could probally use some more flow IMO....that nano isn't pushing enough.....did your friend ever treat his tank with copper??....have you had any metal in tank??...how old is the RO unit that your getting water from??...these are just a few other things that could be happening.

i have a one in my 20g and she does awesome....i.e.....i also buy pods every two weeks and alternate putting in tank and refugium....plus the fuge i have is for a bigger tank.....and she eats frozen mysid and i spot feed her every night....so it can be done in a small tank without tons of LR but...

if you dip sps in an iodine dip then you are preventing a lot of pests.....if you put enough iodine to saltwater ratio then it will kill almost any pest...i dip all my sps corals and have never had any pests!

could be a dying mushroom...it looks like it is shriveled

if it's sps you should do an iodine dip to rid it of any pest or unwanted hitchhikers.....atleast 5 min....make a bowl of saltwater a dark tea color in one bowl and a bowl of saltwater to rinse....this is how i dip mine and it has worked wonders for me....good luck
