    Sump Project

Ahh! Good idea! That may be much easier. I was trying to use stuff I already had, but you're right in that it will become far more complicated. Next question: For a 55gal tank, how big would my sump tank need to be?

    Sump Project

Okaaay. . . I have a tall glass tank I would like to use as a refugium and I am thinking of using a plastic tub (if I can find one that fits well) as the sump area. Is there a way to have the water flow from the refugium into the pump area without drilling holes in the tank?? I drew my idea out...

    First Upgrade

So, update: I found a 55 gal tank with a couple pumps and filters and an oak stand and hood for 125$. I think they had it set for fresh water before. What would I need to get for it to make it salt water ready?

Holy smokes! I can't easily tell if his claws are sharp because they're so, so tiny. What can I do with him if I can't put him in my *future* sump? (I don't have one YET)

    First Upgrade

I've been running a 29 gal Biocube for a while (2 years, maybe? I lost count) with only my handsome little Watchman Goby, 2 Clowns, live rock, and some random hitchhikers. Now I would very much like to upgrade to a bigger tank! I've been searching the classifieds, but honestly, I don't know what...

How do I eradicate Green hair algae?

I found that limiting the time my lights stayed on helped a lot! Rather than have the lights on from 7 AM to 8 PM (I really liked looking at my tank all day!!) I limited the lights to be on only 7-8 hours.

The first big crab I took out of my tank is definitely some sort of Xanthid, as you guessed. Big Red (the little red crab that is still in my tank) does not have fuzzy legs.

PLEASE HELP ME ID AN ORANGY WHITE CRAB WITH BLACK TIP CLAWS?

Black Tips usually = Bad crabs. Most say to remove them and put them in your sump if you have one. . . I have the same kind of crab living in "jail" right now.

Posted about this before but i need more info. Please help

Here is all I know on the matter that might help you: 1. When my corals were turning white, I needed new lighting because they were not getting enough. 2. I have been advised that Red Slime Remover sucks a lot of oxygen out of your tank. I had to put random bubblers in my tank when I used it...

I heard this "black tip" rule which is why I took that snail-killin' jerk out of my tank. I just can't bring myself to kill him! The little red one (aka - Big Red) is hard to tell. Right now he's sooooo tiny that he's probably okay for a little bit. Funny thing is, the only rock I've purchase...

I have 2 new friends to ID. The larger one I have already removed from my tank (he is living in another "facility" for now), but the little guy I put back in his rock because he's just so tiny. Anyone know what these critters are? (I apologize if the photos are huge. I resized them, but they're...
