For an RO/DI unit i would suggest a Typhoon or the Compact ReefKeeper at airwaterice.com. I just got a Typhon 3 with the add on TDS meter inline and its reducing TDS from 160max to 0! Its great.
I just got my airwaterice RO/DI unit (Typhoon 3) today, and set it up. Let me say, it was an excellent deal. I sprung for the Dual Ditigal Inline TDS meter, and it took my water from as high as 108ppm TDS to 0ppm. Its nice, and shipped fast. I got it today and ordered it sunday! Just wanted to...
Well ill give you my take, as i have experienced all you have said first hand. I bought the 75gal E all glass, and i liked it. It was indeed a good deal. But the more i looked at it and the more i wanted to do better movement and filtration ideas i said i need a drilled tank. SO i took my...
I mentioned this was version 1.0 Why? Well the pump is too far away from the skimmer, because i put the inlet of the skimmer too low. Origianlly i was going to use a RIO pump with a built in venturi so the measurements were for that. I decided to use my extra quiet one after the fact. Also, Im...
With the venturi from KENT in, and the pieces all glued and cured, i hooked it up to my quient one pump, and tried it out! The 1/4" tube coming out, is the air inlet on the venturi.
Next I used a few 90deg bends and some 3/4" piping and "put it together" This is not the final way it was assembled due to the fact i just didnt like the inlet and outlet 180deg out from each other. That funky thing on the left or the return is a simple PVC pipe fixer for your sprinkler system...
Next I drilled 2 holes, 90 degress out from each other one low for the outlet, one midway up for the inlet... i used a 1" counterskinking bit (inlet/outlet pipes are 3/4") [My dog Kelso was supervising]
Well, i got creative, and decided its time i tried my hand at A DIY Skimmer to go with my DIY Stand, Canopy, Plenum, RO/DI Tank, WetDry, and more. So here it is....
Initially the 3" PVC Contact Chanmber and Collection Cup. Both just cu, both 3" PVC
I would say no. Any time you have one pump pumping to another open container and another pump pumping back, its a real iffy situation. If one fails, the flow rates perfectly matched, etc. I would just T the drain off your tank one to the wet dry, one to the fuge, and use the one pump to flow to...
The only real good way to get rid of nitrATE is water changes. It is the final step in the nitrification process... Ammonia --> Nitrite --> Nitrate. The macro algea should help it come down, it wont do it at first, you have to give it some time. There are these fancy Nitrate reducing stations...
You will want a small power head to help push current throught the tank at inverts that need higher current etc. Id say get a medium sized power head and a hydor rotating flow director. The flow director attaches to the outlet of the power head and rotates around creating disruptive currents...
Actually to get technical there is a lot of curves that involve this subject, and at certain pH levels stainless steel is more prone to bad corrosion at very low pH (0-8) bottoms out around 10 (least corrosion) and gets drastically worse at higher pH (>10). So as long as your pH is in what ever...
I live in Norfolk VA, and would be interested in the rock, maybe some of the clean up crew stuff. Wanna sell just the rock? I can come get it this weekend if the price is right. jasenhicks@HOTMAIL.COM
Probably need to set it so that the bottom where it passes through the water only stays submereged for a half second ... too fast will fling water, and too slow will keep it submereged too long without oxygen
