LR, LS, and Equipment in Southern N.H.

Hi Steve, Not 100% sure on the tanks, I may have a few more next week. As of right now I've got a 100 gallon acrylic clear back with no drilling or overflows, it's scratched up so wouldn't make a good display, but would make a nice grow out tank for frags, curing, or experimental tank. Asking...

New hobbyist- need help with pH

I'm still concerned about that tap water, there has to be something pulling down that pH with the KH reading that you're getting. Try running a poly-pad for a few days, just to see if you get any changes, curiosity. With a KH of 12 under normal conditions, your pH should be more like 8.5 8.6...

New hobbyist- need help with pH

Hey TG4F, How have you been? Sounds like your still having some trouble. Did you use the TWP this time to fill the tank? If so, you should have had a 0 dKH reading before you added the salt. Also, nothing wrong with your S.G. reading, 1.024 to 1.026 is perfect unless your trying to get rid...

How Can I Decrease PH level?

It's very unusual for pH to be that high without adding too much buffer to the aquarium. What do you use for a water source? Are you using tap water or purified? If you use your tap water you may want to test the tap water with your kit to see if you get a high pH. Not a bad idea to use...

Skimmer DIY connected to tank drain?

Hi RSD, Sounds like a pretty cool idea. Do you think that you'd be able to get a consistent bubble size with this though? Also, contact time could be very minimal. Please let me know what you find from trying this though as I don't believe I've ever heard of this being done before and am...

    fluidized bed filter

Fluidized bed filters make very good biological filters. No real relation to a Protein Skimmer though. I rarely see them used in Saltwater aquariums as a DSB and LR usually suffice for Bio-Filtration. They are also very good as a space saver when a Man-made Bio-filter is necessary and space...
