    quarentine tank

Just set it up when you need it, but just make sure to do daily partial water changes. Obviously, as there will be no bio-filter. Wouldn't be worth trying to keep up all the time anyway, because if you did need to medicate you'd just wipe out the bacteria bed, well if using antibiotics anyway...

I've HAD IT with this overflow system, help

Do you use a check valve between the powerhead and the overflow box? If so make sure it's working properly and if not put one on. Also check to make sure that there are no cracks anywhere in the C-siphon that could allow air to sneak in. Good luck with it. Myk.

Need help with what size pump to get.

I'm pretty sure that with a gravity feed on a 1" drain that you can get a max flow of 400 GPH so you may want to base your pump size on that. Also, I'd recommend having a T feed your refugium from the drain and not the return from the pump. You'll be better off letting the critters and algae...

    Filstar XP1 Question

Just a recommendation on that chem. media. Make sure to use high quality carbon and never charcoal, Kent Reef Carbon seems to work pretty good for me. I used to try to save money and get cheaper brands in bulk, but ended up with nothing but Phosphate problems and carbon dust all over the tank...

Ligthing in a 72 Gallon Bow front

Does you're tank have an internal overflow? If so you might consider a 48" Custom Sealife Power Compact fixture with 4x96W's. One of my clients has one on his All-Glass 72 black bow-front. It fits perfectly over the rectangular portion of the aquarium, and over the curved portion I had some...

    Quieting return pump ?

I think that a foam block from and aqua clear 300 cut to fit your needs would work. I'd imagine that if you're using it just to absorb vibrations and no water is being forced through it then you shouldn't have to worry about nitrates. If it does become an issue, you can easily remove and rinse...

    sump skim or hang on??

What size tank do you have? Less than 50Gals I'd recommend an AquaC Remora, 50 to 90Gals go with the Remora Pro. No need to use a Wet/Dry if you have a good amount of Live Rock and a functional Live Sand bed. Both have an available preskimmer box option that works well to hide the pump and...

Wanted 100 gal tank or bigger

What do you need the tank for? I have a 100 Gal. 5ft acrylic tank, but it is scratched a bit so it may not be the best choice for a display tank. The aquarium is clear on all 4 sides and is not drilled except for the splash guard where the old filtration used to be. I live in N.H. and I'm not...

can i put a CPR hangon refug on a 10gal sump?

Hello Dan, I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. Although, you may want to plumb extentions for the Rio pump to be submerged and on the return to reduce noise. Even better would be to feed water directly to the aquafuge right from the drain from your display tank plumed with a ball or...
